BEHOLD!
I...wait....what?
I never thought I would see a game carrying the Yars Revenge title described as "taking inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki and Avatar", but I guess it does make sense that it's a rail shooter and I like those.
also, Yars is a woman-fly. A Woman-fly-robot? A woman....flybot? A HuFCast?

Yeah, I saw that this was being made a few months ago, I think.
It's, uh.
Yeah.

If they can re-imagine Pac Man and Space Invaders and make them awesome, maybe they can do it with Yars' Revenge.
Maybe.

Why revive Yars' Revenge? This is the kind of thing that keeps me awake at night.

Wow. Never thought something like Yar's Revenge would get a reboot, much less with an anime visual makeover.
What's next? Custer's Revenge as a hentai visual novel?

What's next? Custer's Revenge as a hentai visual novel? I wouldn't be surprised if that already existed but i'm not a brave enough man to go searching for it.

I have never played the original game but who cares: the new one looks very nice. Added to my wishlist.
As about the quote "we're taking inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki and Avatar" is plain stupit and looks like they just want to reference to popular francises in order to appeal the ignorant costumers but who cares? The designs looks very georgeous and inspiring (btw, Avatar has no inspiration to begin with) and reminds me more Cave's illustrations.
Maybe a little off-topic, but it's kinda ironic to see a western franices adopt a new, japanese appealing when some japanese francises try to adopt a new, western appealing (see Devil May Cry and Castlevania). But that's an irony I like at this case and I think it suits well.

Fun fact: I see this thread title and can't help but think "Happy New Yars". Shoooould oooold acquaintance be fooorgot etc., etc.
Actually does look pretty good and fwiw do notice the Miyazaki (i.e., 80s anime aesthetic) references in the style. I might have to check this out at some point.

I don't know about this. I'm extremely wary, if nothing else. I'm still of the opinion that Yars' Revenge didn't need an upgrade, or a reboot, or a remake. It was fine where it was.
But if the game turns out to be decent, I may give it a shot.

Ugh, count me out. I'm sick of rail shooters, and I don't care for the direction they're taking with this game.

If their Haunted House revival is any indication, I think we have reason to be skeptical.
Aside from that, I'm just glad a classic is getting some attention.

I think I'm more cautious than optimistic on this one, but the world needs more good Starfox-alikes.
