That card seems really depressing to me. He's got a pic of master chief and it says "LITTLE SHADOW" but then at the bottom he states that everybody is just a shadow compared to Jesus. so it's like "hey pal, happy birthday, here's a pic of that halo game that's all the rage. he's pretty cool isn't he? but he ain't as cool as jesus and never will be. stay clean, peace, see you in half a year" Happy birthday, son! I just wanted to let you know that even though I love you, I love Jesus even more! Everyone is just a shadow compared to Jesus, after all!

Yeah, but there's this cool fan art on a birthday card to a family member with a really personal, heartfelt message, and then at the end you get "P.S. Jesus is awesome!" It's just such a bizarre non sequitur that it's hard not to make a joke out of it.

I've never opened a cartridge but I did buy a bunch of NES games in a metal carrying case when I started collecting retro games. The case was in good condition except for a number of small burn marks. I get home and take the foam out of the inside and find a couple of tiny, empty drug baggies.

I sometimes wish there was a facebook-esque "like"-button in forums like this. There're too many awesome posts in this thread.

Holy crap people.
Just what is it with the roach infestations over there in the US? Do the houses have plumbing setup outside the kitchen and bathrooms? And how do those little fuckers crawl inside closed consoles and game cases?
I only heard one account of a friend who had a roach crawl into his PC case and into the power supply which somehow fried the whole thing to kingdom come. The PC was in an outhouse that had some leaky plumbing in the neighboring room.

They're impossible to avoid if you live in a humid environment, no matter how clean you might be. When I lived in Florida, they would regularly run into my apartment under the front door. You could see them migrating between buildings whenever the exterminator came by, as well. Never had any in my dishes or food, really, but they were still gross.

Yeah if you live up north they're not really an issue. Here in the south, if you get these little shits in your house you literally cannot get rid of them. If you try to kill them they just come back in greater numbers with resistance to whatever chemical you're using. Solid matter means nothing to them and they could probably find some way to squeeze through the pores in a brick. For reference, these are the type of roach that got into that SFA2 cart I posted in the OP.

I've never seen a roach in my life and after this, I hope I never will. Guess its too damn cold in here. There's spiders lurking around in depts of our house and its not that weird to see one all of sudden crawl out somewhere.
But in any case, damn you people. Take better care of your games! I've never encountered anything like that, but at one time I during hot summer that there was somekind of white powder on the connector pins on my two NES games, both which I got last christmas (and which were bought from the same guy). Cleaned them up and didnt bother to examine them further, let along open the cartridges and find out if there's more of it.

You mean you guys don't fastidiously clean cartridges when you get them second hand?? When I get something I take it completely apart, clean the plastic, make those contacts sparkle...

This thread has made me think about the game Bad Mojo. I hate nasty bugs but I think I need to play it ASAP.
