Today I was adding a few games to our inventory when I noticed we had a copy of Street Fighter Alpha 2 for the SNES. I looked at the contacts, found they were covered in rust and corrosion, and decided to open it up to see if the board had been compromised and whether or not the cart was salvagable. Inside I found: All those black specks you see are various roach parts, mostly legs.

If that was me, there'd be another thing in that cartridge. My vomit.

Isn't the SNES port of SFA2 reputed to be a bit...buggy? =P

That is DISGUSTING. I wonder how the roaches even got inside the cart? And why the dismembered limbs? Maybe a roach massacre took place inside it back in the 90's.

I had to return a copy of Mike Tysons Punchout to a local 2nd hand place after I got it home and found the contacts were some sort of turqouise colour due to mistreatment on the previous owners part. Sure I already had 'Punchout' but I wanted to be Alexander

The roach parts in a cartridge is nothing. I used to work at a GameStop and found LIVE roaches in a game case when I went to check the disk.

Oh yes, live roaches are nothing new.
Once I had a fellow bring in his slim PS2 to trade in. I don't know if you guys have ever dealt with roaches but anywhere they live after some time there tends to be this sort of... white film-gunk that builds up. This PS2 not only had that film but had apparently been running with roaches inside of it, since that film caked the sides of the disc tray. I didn't know this when I opened it up, of course; I pulled out a copy of 007's Nightfire that was still inside the tray and two live roaches quickly crawled out from underneath the lens carriage.
The customer became quite irate with me when I refused to buy it off of him. The next day, his father came in and tried to trade me the same PS2 as if I weren't going to know it was the same one. It even had the same copy of Nightfire inside it.

In a nasty person's house maybe. Or stored away in someone's basement. Or maybe people put icky stuff in their games before selling them just for fun. I may very well not buy anything off ebay ever again. Also, I need to take a closer look at my video game collection. Lots of suspicious stuff in there when I think about it...

I can't imagine the conditions some of those people live in. Most times when I saw a "roach incident", the rest of the items they were attempting to sell were pretty grody.
I'm a bit of a neat freak, and obsess (that might be too harsh of a word to use, but it conveys the feeling here) over keeping all of my things clean. I cannot comprehend how someone allows their stuff to get in that condition or how they are even comfortable with it.
