(Perhaps a bad time to say this but I am curious if any demon hacking incidents will be reported in the next few weeks though...) Wha??

(Perhaps a bad time to say this but I am curious if any demon hacking incidents will be reported in the next few weeks though...) Wha?? Shin Megami Tensei. I already mentioned this in the Atelier thread, but I was actually holding an old SMT strategy guide at the exact moment the quake hit. That was a weird feeling. I bet this is all Geohot's fault. If only he had known that the security on the PS3 was actually holding the entire pantheon of Japanese demons at bay... JAILBREAK! ***I hope I don't offend anyone by making jokes. I have extended family living in Iwate, so I am fully aware of how serious this is.***

I wonder how bad the radiation problem is or will be.

Most countries actually have some insane safety measures for nuclear power plants, so the damaged plants will only do minimal damage. If they can't cool them, they'll be fully shut down and rendered totally inoperable again, but it's better than having that leak out. There won't be another Chernobyl here at the very least. Japan had/has some crazy prepared measures for earthquakes and super building regulations and will be able to recover fast at least.
My dad lives sort of near the coast in the Bay Area of California and he said that some boats were knocked around there and that was it.

A nuclear power plant in Fukushima (very close to the epicenter) issued a red alert yesterday (cooling system problem), but there haven't been any radiation leaks AFAIK.
I live about 100 km away from another nuclear plant, but it was totally unaffected. Japanese nuclear plants are designed with earthquakes in mind, and they shut down as soon as a problem is detected.
A bigger problem right now is that many people are without power or utilities during a very cold time of year...

Nah! This had me thinking about Dragon Head all day.

They've released some vapor and the pressure is coming down. There was an explosion injuring 4 workers from the power company, and they've issued evacuation orders to everyone within a 20 km radius. This is bad. edit: Looks like Japan has joined the nuclear meltdown club. The severity of the damage is still unknown. edit: External radiation levels at the Fukushima reactor have dropped by about 90% since before the explosion, and they are working on cooling it further. The core container is most likely intact.

Yeah, the core containment unit is fine. It was a hydrogen/oxygen explosion. It's gradually becoming more contained and they're going to cool it with seawater, which will render the reactor inoperable, and they may have to seal it in concrete, but things are most likely going to be just fine. Radiation levels are dropping, too.
I can't believe these righteous badass motherfuckers did it. I am in complete amazement of the human spirit in the times of such a crisis. I can see their balls shaking from here they're so huge. Heroes, all of them, may they all live to be 120 at the very least.
They really pulled through. Their preparation levels for this event are unparalleled given the immensity and damage level of it. Hopefully this means the worst is behind us.
EDIT: The sad thing is no news sources here in America at least are going to report that good safety measures, quick thinking, sturdy buildings, good engineering, and strict codes saved tons of lives. We're just going to continue to flip our shits over the words NUCLEAR and MELTDOWN.
I am so sorry for our tarded sensationalist media, Japan. It's not you, it's us. We thrive on panic.

Our tarded media? You do know Japan had a television show where they locked a guy in a room for over a year until he won $10,000 in prizes from mail-in contests, right? Or how about this motherfucker, who killed and ate a woman, then when he got sent back to Japan, got off the hook and then became a celebrity? I mean, these are just some big examples, but Japan's media is very, very notoriously more fucked up than ours and now is seriously the last time we need anti-American sentiments when we're always one of the first and biggest countries to offer support in times like these.

What about that old guy who's titled "The King of Elderly Porn" and has been keeping his celebrity status a secret from his family? Does he count, too? Or is that just mild in comparison? I wouldn't know, really!

Wow, I know this will sound hypocritical of me but I was also gonna link on this thread URA Hello Jobs so that ATMA could hear about the guy who used to work clean up duty at a nuclear plant and learn how cool those people are but figuring what else the book dealt and how inappropriate it would be at this time I opted not to.
But now look at what you two stupid motherfuckers just did.

But now look at what you two stupid motherfuckers just did. I'm just trying to point out that slandering America at a time like this is both wildly inappropriate and hypocritical. It would be like attacking Japan for not offering robust coverage of the heroes during 9/11.
