Also gotta give props to Simple Templeman, even though he isn't American. He's absolutely brilliant as Kain and Loghain, among the many other roles he's done.

Paul Eiding has always been my favorite. After many playtroughs of Metal Gear, I started to notice he's in everything from Starcraft to Sacrifice (Oh look, Roy Campbell is narrating a epic fantasy saga).
EDIT: I cant really name a lot of good voice actors, since there's plenty of them, but I could name games that have a nice casts of excellent voice actors. For example, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and San Andreas. In the latter, James Woods and Samuel L Jackson deserve special mention, because they were awesome in that game.
And speaking of Tim Curry, he also had a nice part in Sacrifice and he starred in that semi-FMW game Frankenstein. Another good ones.

Don't know too many by name... (also wouldn't know if they're all American, actually, so interpreting this as "English language voice actors")
Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetty, Jennifer Hale (don't care much for many of her performances and of course there's dozens I haven't even heard, but her work on Mass Effect is brilliant), Charles Martinet, John St. John, Michael Ironside.

I've become something of a dork for awesome voice actors lately, partly because it's an interest of mine to become one! This'll be a bit of a long post, and I'll probably overlook some good ones, but here it go.
Steve Blum: Had to start with him because he's in every game EVER.
David Hayter: Even if he's mostly known for one voice... that voice is immortal. And if you don't know what voice I mean, you've got some homework to do.
Yuri Lowenthal: Haven't heard too much of his VAing, but I like his voice for somewhat young characters, like Future Luke from Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.
Nolan North: He's Drake, gotdangit!
Kari Wahlgren: I know her most as Haruko from FLCL, but she's had some good game roles, like Lady from Devil May Cry 3.
Jennifer Hale: Even if I dislike Naomi Hunter's character, I like the voice behind her... oh, and Femshep of course, among many other fine roles.
Neil Ross: He's been around since Transformers and has impressed me with his versatility... how can he be Wally from Curse of Monkey Island AND Colonel Volgin from MGS3?!
Jim Cummings: My favorite thing about Splatterhouse is Cummings' hilariously evil take on the Terror Mask.
Jeff Kramer: I nearly plotzed when I found out the voice behind Francis York Morgan was also SEAMAN.
Charles Martinet: The long standing voice of Mario, Luigi, and Wario deserves enough respect, but before that, he got his start by handling all of the voices in Super Punch-Out!! for the SNES. Interesting little tidbit, I thought.
Michael McConnohie: Say what you will about SF4's Seth, but it's tough to deny that McConnohie was the PERFECT voice for him. Oh, and not a video game, but he was Vampire Hunter D.
Mark Hamill: His classic Joker voice is still flawless for Arkham Asylum and the upcoming Arkham City. Also, his take as Goro Majima on Yakuza 1 was arguably the best part of the sometimes sketchy dub.
Richard Doyle: Dammit, I need to get into the Legacy of Kain series so I can hear him as Moebius. I DO know him as the voice of Dr. West in Splatterhouse, which he played with marvelous over-the-topness. He also voiced... wait, what's the statue of limitations on spoilers for Metal Gear Solid 4?
Gregg Berger: I grew up hearing him as The Gromble on Aaaahh! Real Monsters, but he's had some good game roles as well, including Captain Blue from Viewtiful Joe and Jecht from FFX, arguably one of the better parts of the somewhat durpy dub.
Cam Clarke: Dammit, Cam, be in more games. Your impact as Liquid Snake was too awesome. Also, your time as Andrei Ulmeyda in Killer 7 was too short.
John DiMaggio: While I'm really not a fan of Gears of War, I can't deny that DiMaggio's gruff voice is spot on for Marcus Fenix. I just had to put him here because he's also Bender and Jake the Dog from Adventure Time. Not video games, but I do love these shows.
Robin Atkin Downes: Of all the voices Downes has ever had, the biggest and best is undoubtedly Travis friggin' Touchdown.
Dee Bradley Baker: Baker's had a fine and diverse career, with my personal pick of his roles being none other than Viewtiful Joe.
Jon St. John: Ballsballsballsballsballsballsballsballs
Aw, shit. This post's long enough as it is. More will likely come to mind later!

I can't believe I forgot Michael Bell (the voice of Drew Pickles and Chaz Finster on Rugrats).
He was The Fear in MGS3 (all of my picks were in that series). I also forgot Phil La Marr. He's great, too.

Michael Bell was also Raziel in the Legacy of Kain series, which is reason enough to include him on this list!
And good call on Charles Martinet! I just love that he was Homunculus in Shadow of Destiny/Memories -- such a huge contrast to his voice-work as Mario et al., and really shows how vast his range is!

Dominic Armato. He perfectly captures the comedy of the Monkey Island games, and fits Guybrush like a glove. I can hardly imagine better casting for any role.

John Truitt is a legend. Ghaleon alone cements him as that.
I wish he did more work.
Everyone in Digital Devil Saga was phenomenal. Atlus' best dub ever.

Tony Jay, most definitely. (He will be missed.) Among other things, he was Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame, and his game roles include the narrator from The Bard's Tale, Magneto in X-Men Legends, and the Elder God in the Legacy of Kain series. Dude was amazing at doing evil voices, and it's a real shame he's not around to keep on giving them.

Vic Mignogna, only for the hilarity that he somehow ended up doing both Mythe from Unlimited Saga and Broly from Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit.

Michael Bell and some other 80's cartoon regulars did the voices in the old Turbo CD Ys games, it was great.
I'm going to parrot my comment on the Nier thread, Laura Bailey is totally awesome. She's really versatile, and is also rather good at sounding similar in tone to the original voice actors. That and she's got a really pretty voice, IMO.
Also, this is less a video game voice (although he's the voice for Luke Skywalker in a lot of games), but Bob Bergen was awesome as Lupin III in the Streamline dubs, and it's a shame he doesn't seem to do much voice acting.

I'm told that Michael Bell actually trained Cam Clarke. That makes him doubly awesome.
