Bison was of course the first bad ass boss of fighting games and all kinda respect goes to him and his shit eating grin. But... This fucker right here. You don't know fighting games bosses until you've gone toe to toe with this guy. Ridiculous anti-gravity, anti-physics and anti-common sense acrobatic moves? Check. UNFAIR priority on most of his move-set? Check. Blows everything up every time he loses and yet still manages to make it in several kof games? Check. Mustache? Check. This guy dips his defeated foes in molten metal for the purpose of decorating his place with statues of worthy opponents. Holy. Shit. Shoutouts to Geese Howard. He's next in line.

Including SF2's Guile - something that they even paid homage to in Capcom VS SNK 2, where if you match Rugal up against Guile, they'll start the fight by taking turns lobbing projectiles at his statue. That's right - Rugal beat Guile before Capcom VS SNK was even a thing.

I think the guy behind the "throne" might be one of the two musclemen from Cho Aniki - was that out at the time?

Cho Aniki came around two years before KOF, so I'd say yes.

That kinda looks like Sonya Blade on the far left.

I always liked how in MK2, Shao Khan was the announcer.
"I win."

Shao Khan was the first time I can remember the fighting game boss ever personally insulting the player.
"You SUCK!"

Taking some liberty with the definition 'fighting game' here, but my favorite 'fighting game' boss is Ms Garra Ono from ESP Ra.De. , an eccentric billionaire old lady with ESP skills surpassing the player's, if only because old women are practically never featured in video games (except RPG npc's maybe, and Power Instinct, lol), let alone enemies, let alone end bosses! She's a bit reminiscent of Mom from Futurama, though distinctly more super-powered, and generally more evil-intentioned. Also the moment she sprouts butterfly wings must count as one my personal Video Game Highlights, y'know, one of those moments where a game totally overwhelms you with sensory overload awesome.

Hm. I'd have to go with Rugal, too - I've yet to tangle with him in a KoF, but in Capcom Vs. SNK 2 his ultimate form was brutal as hell. XD Fun, though. Bison and Geese are runners-up.
Could I say my least favorite while I'm here? Magaki from KoF11 sucks, sucks, sucks. XD

Try taking Rugal on in KOF 2002. Because holy shit....you'll see what I mean.

MMMhhh... Strong, the obsession with SNK is in here. Stronger still, with sprites. And that is good. But my everlasting faith in Virtua Fighter forces me to remind you all of Dural, whose every incarnation showed us the evolution in 3D polygonal technology. And, you know, because it is like a T-1000 with boobs, and that is freaky. A more potent 3D end-boss is TENGU of Dead or Alive 2 (and X aliterations) infamous. I mean, C'm'on. The nose; The No theater dancing. And the guy freaking CHANGED SEASONS everytime he made a summersault. Now THAT is a shinto animistic demon.
Especially spendid in DOA Ultimate on ye olde XBox, which remains the pinacle of the series for now. I will merrily purchase the 3DS version in a month, but in the meantime...

And what if I said I don't find Dural freaky at all?

I was joking more than anything else here. Well, you would be right, because in fact, Dural is more strange than freaky; Virtua Fighter did not do bizarro until 4 Evolution with Goh Hinogami, the zombie-looking Akira Yuki doppelganger. I guess I was simply trying to drum some attention to 3D bosses, ^^. And I'm pretty sure you'll be okay with me when I say that Dural and Tengu ARE memorable.
