I am very disappointed but not surprised as well. When the 3DS launched, it basically set in my mind that we will never get official releases of Edgeworth 2 or Layton 4 and 5. Layton 5 is a 3DS game, though, so why shouldn't we get it?

On the other hand they're (Capcom) willing to throw away money on a Devil May Cry reboot that A) has met almost universal bitching/mockery and B) is developed by a largely untested and unsuccessful group whose last game bombed shit so bad that it was selling for 15 bucks in less than two months (and whose prior game didn't sell so well either). Hold up. Enslaved bombed because... a) it was a new IP, released in October; b) It wasn't Call of Duty, & c) modern gamers can't spot a good game if it bites them on the ass... ... NOT because it was a shite game. Is the DMC reboot misguided? Yes, without a doubt from what we've seen so far. Will it sell? Again, yes. It'll have Devil May Cry written all over the cover (or DMC or whatever). But you can't call Ninja Theory 'untested and unsuccessful'. If they were, you bet that they wouldn't even be allowed within a 100km radius of the DMC franchise. What they actually do with it remains to be seen, but I wouldn't be so hasty in writing them off. Besides, Enslaved was brilliant. It may not be the most perfect, exact and hardcore brawler like DMC and the rest, but the experience as a whole was fantastic. Phew, back on topic. This is indeed a shame if true. I love anything remotely to do with Phoenix Wright.

Well since Capcom made DMC2 ...I don't see how they could do WORSE by the series.
PW > JFA > TT > AJ - What can I say here, personally the first and the third game are neck and neck but I've got to hand it to PW for being a little more on the side of *normal* where as the third game gets pretty outlandish which I felt cheapened it a bit.
Apollo Justice totally lacks the magic of the original games. The characters are friendlier to him, he's far less interesting as a character, cases are dull and the whole thing gets really silly. At least in my opinion - sure I'd give AJ another chance but frankly I find Phoenix's timeline way more satisfying.
Strictly on topic you'd think an iPhone port would make huge amounts of sense.

But you can't call Ninja Theory 'untested and unsuccessful'. I'd call a developer with a mere 3 releases, only one of which was critically well acclaimed but sold poorly, "untested and unsuccessful". Of all the developers to hand DMC off to, why Ninja Theory? Granted, 2 of their games were "cinematic" action games like DMC (Heavenly Sword and Enslaved), but their track record leaves a lot to be desired. On topic, I've always wanted to get into the AA series but simply had too much else on my plate. Hopefully I can get around to it someday, but it's a shame to see this happen with a successful series. Capcom has really depressed me as of late.

Enslaved was a very pretty, very shallow game. It wasn't even meant to be a game in the first place. Then again, I guess that fits Devil May Cry to a T. And I have to echo Snarboo, one unknown game and two games with lukewarm/poor sales (despite their quality) is still untested. I guess that they're just lucky, since there are other developers that have crashed and burned after one near miss, while they're on their third big chance, with a third major publisher. I guess they and Silicon Knights have a similar deal with the devil.

Vatra -> Silent Hill. Hell, I'm still baffled by Double Helix -> Silent Hill.

Vatra -> Silent Hill. Hell, I'm still baffled by Double Helix -> Silent Hill. Vatra... I guess Konami wanted to Czech themselves before they wreck themselves. You see, because they're from the Czech Republi...ok, that was lousy. I feel the same way about Homecoming. It's just weird how Japanese Devs keep giving properties to western devs after so many have screwed them up. Not that the Japanese would necessarily do better, mind you, but the system doesn't work so well...Dead Rising 2 was one of the few that seemed to work out (considering the original was pretty western to begin with).

True enough. I've heard a lot of people bitching about DR2, but I thought it actually fixed a lot of the issues from the first game, while still retaining that same "tense" atmosphere.

If you haven't beat the game yet, you'll probably won't get it.

How many games are there in these series already anyways? You gotta admit nobody buys these games except us, so don't be surprised. If anything, be surprised because the series actually got this far. Actually, it got some decent pub in some mainstream mags like Entertainment Weekly. It may be "niche" but it's a pretty well known niche. On some sports forums I post on, some sports fans have talked about this game franchise positively. So it's a series many casual gamers I know are aware of. I always thought it did pretty decently sales wise. I was wrong?
