Otomedius francise (a cute 'em up from Konami which is just like Parodius) was "too japanese" to be released outside Japan. However, Konami surprised us with the announcement of Otomedius Excellent localization in America. Later, it was announced that OE will be released on April 27 for Japan with no date for the american market yet. I'm just semi-curious about the supposed Belmont character in the game. I've heard the game itself is kind of yawn-inducing. Even so, we don't get many shmups these days.

That's more referring to the first Otomedius probably...which is kinda-sorta true. It has two different modes - an Arcade mode which is pretty good but only lets you play like three or four stages, and a Console mode (not official names) which lets you play the whole game but nerfs the major gameplay system. Neither is particularly ideal, but hopefully this one will be better, since it's targetted at consoles at the start. I wonder if this US localization is still happening. It feels like such a fever dream that I refuse to believe it. |

Hmm. I was thinking of Otomedius Sexy Gorgeous Whatever. I thought that was the same as Excellent, but maybe they're different.

I'm just semi-curious about the supposed Belmont character in the game. If I'm remembering right, she's a DLC only character, which is rather annoying. I am definitely not a fan of this whole "moe anthropomorphism", or whatever, that's going on in the series. But, since this spinoff is practically the only thing Konami is doing with the franchise anymore, I may just wind up buying it due to craving a Gradius game. |

So that's why Koji Igarashi was involved in this project? I wonder if that's what he'll be doing from now on - putting Belmonts in nonCastlevania games. Funny that it's a female Belmont too. IGA isn't exactly known for his female heroines, at least not female Belmonts. They are FORBIDDEN!

Aside from being a total product of Japan, with the way Konami has been the past few years it's almost a surreal concept that they're still around, much releasing games. |

I just hope Konami bring it out to Europe it is unlikely it will work on European 360 all Konami 360 games are Region locked for just for one region so far even those two that was just Konami's Xbla games on a disc.

If Parodius ever reeked of mediocrity and boredom, then yeah, they are pretty much the same. In all seriousness I'm still looking forward to see if Konami still has the means to craft another good shmup. |
