True, it's not like it would take a lot of effort to localize - they're taking the quick and dirty approach.
I wonder whether this is getting ESRB rated though?

It showed up on ESRB a few weeks back. Yet to show up on any European or Austrailias rating board though. I think all 360 games have to Rated unless their Indie games that use their own ratings. Though because of this those games will never be sold in alot of countrys. Though if your after any Indie Title just make a UK or Us 360 account and buy a point card to get them with there not IP blocked.

If Aksys aren't localizing it, it's probably better off not being translated, anyway.

$30 for an untranslated game that is several years old on release? Sounds like extortion to me. I won't bite, especially after how high quality the European retail release of Deathsmiles turned out to be. I quite enjoyed having a soundtrack disc alongside my game. Doesn't seem like it came out on xbox in Japan too long ago. May 2010 wasn't it? Some companies release a game two or three years later overseas and still charge full price. Normally, I'd be with you (still haven't bought White Knight Chronicles), but it doesn't seem like too bad of a deal. Plus, I'm a sucker for Cave. So...

Well, this is a surprise Deathsmiles IIX was just released by Cave on the US XBLA Marketplace as a Game on Demand just tonight: www.facebook.com/CAVECoLtdCave is now more and more becoming an international company and I hope this release is the first of many to come. The release is $30 and only available in the US (no Canada or Mexico at the moment but they are working on it) so there are some caveats. Though it's a digital release, I can't really complain about the price of a full game that would cost you much more in Japan and at least $40 here for a physical copy. Personally, I think it was a great idea for Cave to do this to not risk a potentially damaging retail release. Exciting news, nonetheless.

Took the liberty to stick this to the existing thread.

Anyone picked it up yet? If so I have a two questions...
Are the achievements in English?
Is there a remixed soundtrack option? (I heard there was one for the Japanese version)

I'd be surprised if they were in English, as they already said the game itself wouldn't be translated. On the plus side, I've looked at the list, and it appears that you can easily get 930 on this game. That's a big improvement over the last one.

Bought this the other day. It looks wonky, but it's a blast to play. Hopefully this will bode well for DDPDFK, Ketsui, and Akai Katana. :3

If they were going to do this, I kind of wish they'd just made the Japanese release region free. Then us non-J360 owners could have had an actual disc. But I suppose they thought Aksys might pick it up at the time.
Oh well. Not the end of the world.

On the plus side, I've looked at the list, and it appears that you can easily get 930 on this game. That's a big improvement over the last one. Is it necessarily an improvement to easily be able to get most of a game's achievements? Kinda kills the meaning of the word. Plus, especially in Cave games I feel like you should have to put some effort and time in to truly make progress. Don't get me wrong, it was nice how you could get some achievements in the first DeathSmiles basically for free, since that made for a good mix when most of the others were harder or really hard to get. I've only got 775 out of 1500 in DS so far and Im loving it. Haven't really put THAT much time or effort into it so far, but I'll definitely keep at it, so I'm rather disappointed to hear that it's easy to get most cheevos that easily in DS IIX. It's probably the only Cave 360 game that does it that way, for whatever reason. On another note: I played through the original several times in various arcades and at home, 1CCing it a couple of times and I sure loved it. The second one on the other hand hasn't appealed to me at all. After the first announcement videos I was naturally shocked, but when I finally got to play it, I looked past the visuals (wow, that sounded way more...meta than it was intended to) and still found no appealing game with rather bad level design and bullet patterns. So it's probably my least favorite Cave shooter alongside Progear. Too bad they didn't choose any other game for charting into new waters on the 360.

Guwange. Mushihimesama Futari. ESPGaluda II. I have enough difficult Cave shooters on my plate. A "gimme" release would be a welcome addition to my collection.
I do see your point, though. The very fact that the Achievements in these games are difficult is the reason why I started to get good at the genre in the first place.

Wow, you guys weren't kidding. The graphics really are shitty on this thing. Beyond the Beyond almost had better visuals than this.
