(Copied from another message board where I'm not expecting much of a reply; pardon the repetition if you frequent both)
Ours stopped working about three years ago, and I've tried to find placed that might repair it, but the repair price plus the shipping price was always just a little too steep for me, so I had about given up. Flash forward to today, while I'm at a gamexchange, and I see a used Dreamcast for $25. The guy couldn't guarantee that it was one of the models that could play burned discs (my older one could), but I went ahead and bit anyway. Turns out it can. ^_^
Little bummed that I discover this thing just a week after I had pretty much bought all my DC essentials again on XBLA (>_<), but I'm happy to have a working one again. To celebrate, I feel like getting some more games for it. Any recommendations? I'm planning to grab D2 and Maken X, but that's about it. Otherwise I've already got the following:
Sonic Adventure Sonic Adventure 2 RE: CV Soul Calibur DOA 2 MvC MVC2 Power Stone Power Stone 2 Shenmue Virtual On: Oratorio Tengram Crazy Taxi Crazy Taxi 2 Jet Grind Radio Tony Hawk 2 PSO Sword of the Berserk Grandia 2
Probably some others I've forgotten. The following games I will not get, because I own them on other systems: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PS1) Street Fighter 3: Third Strike (PS2) Soul Reaver (PS1) Half-Life (PC) Ikaruga (GC) Spider-Man (N64) Skies of Arcadia (GC) Rez (PS2) PSO: ver. 2 (GC, XBOX, PC)
Anything I've missed? Will probably grab Space Channel 5, too. Also, I'm curious if any other games still have unofficial online servers running the way a few sites do for the DC version of PSO.

I found Illbleed to be a really interesting game. It's tough as nails but has a great atmosphere with one of the best soundtracks ever.
If you like action/RPGs, the Lodoss War game is fantastic. It appears to be a Diablo clone at first, but after an hour or so the game world opens up and it gets pretty unique. There is a really easy-to-understand but awesomely deep and satisfying equipment forging system. Basically, there are monster lairs hidden all over the giant map and if you can beat the lair, you get a rune that you can have inscribed on your equipment. It's ridiculously addictive.

Don't let anyone tell you to get Blue Stinger. That game is atrocious.
You MUST, however, get Bangai O! A superb action game from treasure that can be had for around $30. It sounds like the sequels are in now way effective replacements for the original, either.

- Evolution 1 and 2 (the first one is a charming short rpg, while the 2nd one is a larger/longer game that lacks much of the charm the first one had, yet is still pretty good.)
- Cool Cool Toon (very fun, awesome music/rhythm game by the old SNK that sadly never came to the US. It's games like this that make me miss the old SNK.)

Rival Schools Project Justice x10billion - you need that. I love how damn goofy it is- what other game lets you beat an opponent via synchronised swimming? Tech Romancer - it's not that great a game in a lot of ways but it has a pretty amusing campy animé storytelling style and I think just about every character is a parody of some popular series in Japan. The gameplay is a bit whiffy though.

Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Zombie Revenge Trying to 1cc it, after seeing 2 Hong Kids do it on youtube. I'm appreciating it even more. Cannon Spike Dynamite Cop Charge 'n Blast Maken X Illbleed Project Justice Confidential Mission (not that amazing actually, but it's the only exclusive lightgun game left on DC) I also have a weak for the thumbed down dc version of Heavy Metal Geomatrix and Japanese imports Treasure Strike and Zusar Vasar but I'm not sure anyone can appreciate it because the quality is not up there. And I'm trying to love Industrial Spy Operation Espionage but it's soooo clunky and boring Alo unreleased gems, that got released on the internet: Propeller Arena: Aviation Battle Championship www.unseen64.net/2008/04/10/propeller-arena-dc-cancelled/Geist Force (not released yet, Assemblergames still busy on it... but interesting, Star Fox without furries ;D first party SEGA game) www.unseen64.net/2008/04/10/geist-force-dc-cancelled/And this new game looks interesting (if you like Amiga-type platformers like Turrican), ok i'm really only excited for it because you fight a giant whale cyber soldier boss and it gives me a bit of Alien Soldier nostalgia with it's design: www.gun-lord.com/

Toy Commander. It needs more love. Quoted for emphasis. That game had me holding on to my Dreamcast for a lot longer than I thought. A really critically underrated gem. Mars Matrix. Really fun bullet hell shooter where you an gather projectiles and fling them back at enemies. And believe it or not Virtua Tennis was a really fun game, mostly for the world exhibition mode.

If you like weird fighting games check out Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The game is based around a pretty badass manga, and it uses the CPS3 2-D system like Street Fighter 3.
For my shooter picks: Border Down, Under Defeat (again), and Mars Matrix.
Super obscure but great pick: Napple Tale.

Project Justice is a great fighter worth some attention. And I like Tech Romancer, too, although it does have its flaws. The atmosphere makes up for them pretty well, I think.
