Porting a 15+ year old game to a console with lots of resources without adding anything extra does not really impress me, so I don't think it's a good port.
Sure it does, custom levels and mods is and has always been one of the best things about Doom. It's also jDoom's weakness, as it doesn't even have proper boom support.
I might look into reproducing it later, I think it was something with the menu system... Doom has at least frozen my 360 multiple times while no other game has.

The freezing used to happen to me a lot, although only when I was playing the game offline (as in, not connected to Xbox Live at all). I re-downloaded the game shortly before it was removed from the Live store and - presto! - it doesn't freeze up at all anymore. So perhaps they may have released a patch that addressed the freezing issue?
