SourceThis really makes the game sound quite awesome. We know from Contra 4 that WayForward is capable of making a sci-fi 2D action game, and the ways that they're going to make it possible for the player to mess up really make this sound quite interesting. I'm up for a good challenge.

I haven't gotten around to collecting WF's various licensed games, but this looks damn cool.

Yeah, I feel kind of dirty when buying licensed games, even when they are good. But I do make the exception. That Batman, Thor and this one looks pretty cool. There's a video here and it looks like a Metroidvania type: gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=163864

It looks more like Metroid without the "vania", which makes sense since Metroid was inspired by the Alien movies to begin with.

It sounds like - dare I say it? - 2D survival horror.

At least just ditch the "vania" part and call them "Metroid-types" if we're going to use a game's title to classify them. You mean like War of the Dead. www.videogameden.com/hucard.htm?wod

I sense this game will rock hard, especially if it's WayForward doing it. As an Alien fan, I'm looking forward to pre-order a copy of it as soon as possible.
My only concern is the whole death thing. I'm perfectly okay with permanent deaths, but it won't be fun if the death of a single marine can render the game unwinnable (from what I understood in the 1UP preview).

I think your entire squad has to die in order to get you a "total game over". The 1up preview says that you have 19 marines, and when one dies, they're gone for good (unless you rescue them first), and when they're all gone, you're back to square one.

Wow, this actually is sounding pretty fucking awesome. As somebody who thought Contra 4 was an excellent game, I have little reason to be skeptical.

Despite the favorable previews, WayForward has decided to cancel it because there just isn't enough interest in 2D games nowadays.
