I still really can't escape the feeling that this is all one giant head game to build up groundswell support for the game's eventual release. I'm probably overthinking it. It's just nothing they've done regarding this game really makes a lick of sense.

I don't see the point in being so pessimistic about this. Sure, Capcom are being motherfuckers, but I'm not just going to give up on this. If there's a way I can make it clear that I want the game, I'll go forth with it.

You know, the same amount of time it takes to write a snarky post.

As bad as Capcom are being these days, I still want to hope that they can finish and release MML3 and that the game could actually be, at least, good.

So Capcom can collect all my personal info off facebook in exchange for maybe sort of thinking about (but not really) releasing a game for a system I have no immediate plans to own?
No thanks.
Capcom should be trying to convince me, the customer, to buy their products. Not the other way around.

Capcom should be trying to convince me, the customer, to buy their products. Not the other way around. This. I'm not refusing to sign this because I can't be assed to sign up, I'm refusing to sign it because the relationship between Capcom and their consumer base is like that of a battered wife (I really can't think of a more apt comparison) given the way they repeatedly shit all over their most devoted fans. They have so little faith in their own product that they absolutely refuse to take any kind of risk, which is the factor that defines whether a business fails or succeeds. To the point where they have to ask the fans to be their creative direction; where they then blame the fans for not being involved enough; where they outright say that the fans should've developed the entire game; where they ask a room full of people to wave $10 and $20 bills at them to show their ( financial) support; where they have to get people to sign up on a stupid website so they can be advertised to to show their devotion. All the while hanging this stupid little 3DS game (that is in all likelihood going to be a shadow of the originals at best or just outright series-ruining at worst) over our heads like putting a Twinkie on a string just out of the reach of some starving child. Fuck Capcom.

That sounds better than anything they've got on their plate.
I started signing up, but when I found out it's another hole in my already sieve-like privacy I decided against.
Looks like megaman's gonna have to get used to living on the moon.

I read that as "Looks like megaman's gonna have to get used to the living room." like he was staying at your house after his wife kicked him out.

Capcom should be trying to convince me, the customer, to buy their products. Not the other way around. This times 10 billion. I can see it now: "Yeah okay, decent number on the petition...now we will agree to start work on the game IIIIIF you bring us a flying pig. And some Cheese Doritos"

Capcom should be trying to convince me, the customer, to buy their products. Not the other way around. I guess this is how I feel about games. Don't care about the companies or the personalities or the fanbase or the community or the lifestyle. I care about the game. Don't make me jump through hoops to prove I want your game. I can put absolutely zero effort into Dark Souls or RE4 HD and they will come out and I will buy them. Why would you ask customers to put any effort into anything, especially into getting you to release something so they can give you money?

I guess that's where the Axe body spray, roofies, and blood (I hope that's all it is) stains on my couch came from while I was out of town. BTW, here's what I imagine as the next step to getting MML3 realized!!!

If people don't play their stupid head games and stop supporting such poor decisions, both design and otherwise, Capcom will take notice and realize they can't put such things into practice.
...
And there's no way in hell that will happen since both parties will keep the wheel going. I love people.
Funny thing: I noticed that a Nintendo higher up mentioned they will strongly consider a remake of Majora's Mask for 3ds if fans show a ton of interest. I'm probably reading into it too much but, that's quite a coincedence. I'm hoping we wont be seeing a trend of "Hey! We can make stuff if you prove you love us enough!" in the coming months.
