Qualification Question: Starglider 2 came with a rather nice audio tape that referred to itself as the game's theme. The game itself has a couple tunes by the same person, but only sound effects during gameplay. (For reference, the composer also did the same thing for Carrier Command.) Would these songs qualify?

Quick question: when a game has multiple composers but the authorship of an individual song isn't known, should we list all the artists that worked on the game or leave that field blank?

I think it would be better not to list any names at all, to distinguish from tunes that might have multiple co-composers. Starglider 2 came with a rather nice audio tape that referred to itself as the game's theme. The game itself has a couple tunes by the same person, but only sound effects during gameplay. (For reference, the composer also did the same thing for Carrier Command.) Would these songs qualify? Please do vote for that. This a really beautiful workaround for old home computer sound/music programming issues. I have to say I'm kinda surprised at the huge amount of love Monty On the Run is getting. I somewhat like that track, but I found the lead melody rather weak/borderline annoying, some of the pieces don't fit together that well, and at some small portions the arrangement even sounds a bit messy, IMHO. Also, Still Alive from Mirror's Edge baffles me, especially since everyone is linking the vocal version, which completely destroys the song in my ears, to cringeworthy degrees.

Oh my good lord! Both my 1st and 2nd place is very, very nostalgic to me and therefore are those I like the most. 3rd: Rayman 1 - Band Land 2nd: Rayman Revolution (Anything) 1st: Wizards & Warriors 1 - Title Theme (SUPER NOSTALGIA!) A shared 2nd place actually belongs to Diablo 2 / StarCraft Main Menu Theme, but they're not considered Video games, I think. W&W theme gets my 1st place simply because it's a masterpiece And it's the theme of my all time favorite video game. Great thread, now I had to really sit down and dig through all the games I've played through my years and it was epic. Now I have to spend my afternoons downloading soundtracks!

Uh, so games for PC is considered video games? I thought only TV consoles was. Yup, PC game music qualifies. Just make sure to stick your votes in the official voting thread or I'll probably miss them.

There are a couple of songs I couldn't find proper Youtube vids for, so I've ripped and uploaded the MP3s myself. Just in case someone feels inclined to up them on youtube, here they are with some suitable screengrabs to use for the video stream (all song names are just a vague description of the situation they appear in, not actual titles): The Clue!, hotel room, www.derboo.de/files/wvgm/TheClue!-HotelRoom.mp3 The Clue!, town, www.derboo.de/files/wvgm/TheClue!-Town.mp3 Oldtimer/Motor City, Intro (DOS only), www.derboo.de/files/wvgm/OldtimerMotorCity-DOSIntro.mp3Oldtimer/Motor City, random ingame music, www.derboo.de/files/wvgm/OldtimerMotorCity-ingamemusic1.mp3Oldtimer/Motor City, other ingame music, www.derboo.de/files/wvgm/OldtimerMotorCity-ingamemusic2.mp3SQRXZ, Title Theme, www.derboo.de/files/wvgm/SQRXZ-TitleTheme.mp3SQRXZ, First Assignment, www.derboo.de/files/wvgm/SQRXZ-FirstAssignment.mp3
