I was wondering the same, also because I tend to use these boards to keep updated rather than the HG101 homepage (in fact, it's the former I have bookmarked and not the latter). And regardless, it's always good to discuss the articles and their games.

I've been designing a lot of pages recently, so I suppose the blame falls with me. I'll correct matter this morning - though you're welcome to also start threads yourself if I've missed any.
EDIT: I need to head out for half an hour. Will add more upon my return.

Why is it that most of the recently posted articles (thought not all, like the Aerostar and Devastator ones go to show) open up in new tabs, instead of being proceeded in the currently open tab? I honestly can't wrap my head around this, since I can't think of a reason to keep the main site open when reading an article. You'd rarely (if ever) want to open up multiple articles at the same time and also every page features "back to the index" links. Having new tabs open up already feels slightly jarring and unnecessary during normal surfing, but it's even worse when I browse through articles here during blood donating. I'm donating platelets, which has me sitting down for over 90 minutes, unable to bend my arms, and I usually spend that time with my iPhone in one hand reading HG101 articles. Having to flip the device in one hand multiple times, opening and closing various windows on the iPhone browser is quite a pain, actually. Now I know that I might very well be the only person ever surfing this site while donating platelets, but as I said before, I can't think of any reason to mandatorily have every article open up a new tab, anyways. So I wanted to ask if it was possible to have it the old way again, pretty please?

Wow... OK. That's a habit of mine, which I've been doing for all my own articles and those of others I've designed (when I remember anyway). I just prefer having multiple tabs for articles and larger screenshots within articles. Clicking back to go back to an index or the main article after enlarging a screen, my browser loses the place I was at, forcing me to scroll further down. As a reader I also used to open all the articles in multiple tabs and spend time flitting between them.
I had assumed everyone would find it more convenient with new tabs - though obviously not. Normal coding for links will resume for the Index. Which should also save me having to past "target=_blank" into every hyperlink.
Also, you know what? This reminds me that I had completely forgot to do that for any of your iOS entries... Do you want me to go back and add it to all the enlarged screens?

Your browser loses track of where you were at when clicking back? May I ask what browser you're using? Sounds rather archaic. ^^ And thanks for eventually changing it back! I don't really care all that much for how you'll implement the iOS shooter article pics, though, since I probably won't be browsing through them myself. It might help if others could share their opinion on this matter. Maybe other simply don't care at all. ^^

Personally I don't like links opening in a new page/tab when I click on them because when I want to open a page on a new window/tab I always press right click to do so.

With the size of the site now, I think that the related articles section of the newer and updated articles is genius. But since around 12/23, they have been sporadic on which articles have them. Why is this? Will they be added later?

I've recently started helping with the design of the site. So that would be my fault - I shall work through previous articles and add them. Thanks for the reminder.
EDIT:
I went back and added it to around 26 articles. I think I got most of them. Probably.

What would work best, I guess, would be to have tags for each article (e.g. "shmup", "RPG", "RTS", etc.) and then the system would match them semi-randomly.
Is that something that'll be possible with the new CMS ?

Since there always a maximum of three related articles, I'd strongly vote against any kind of auto-assignment here. Since there would be dozens of games labelled as RPG or shmup or whatnot, it'd be best if someone thoughtfully picked only games that are truly as simialr as possible, considering facets, that an automatic, label-driven system could never consider.

At the moment it's manual. Not sure about the new CMS. We try to pick applicable things from the genre-based Index, but it's not always easy to find the right fit (case: SeaQuest DSV).

Tags could be somewhat specific, like "JRPG", "WRPG", and also the decade the game was released, and such thorough details. I'd rather have random articles linked rather than always the same ones. Those three links at the bottom are practically the only realistic way anyone is going to visit the site a bit. I don't think many people go through the alphabetical list, and no one could blame them.
