I grew up Ninja Gaiden 1. Ninja Gaiden 3 was the first game i've tried and then went backwards. It's a fine game on its own and the best in the classic series. I can say the same about Streets of Rage 3 & Golden Axe 3. Will block everyone who don't agree with me.

Regarding the aging thing. One of the theories is that, what you're into during your teenage years becomes your preference for the rest of your life. This applies to music, but I think this also fits here.

Panzer Dragoon seriesI'd be happy with just a HD Collection to make it playable on modern systems, but I guess you could also redo the graphics in the Saturn games. Well, you asked for it, alright. Still no Saga yet. link

Been playing TMNT IV: Turtles in Time recently and yes, the SNES port is more balanced with better pacing and all. The arcade one, on the other hand, is a brainless button-masher with little strategy and beefed randomization to eat your quarters. Ultimately, TMNT III is a better game overall i think.
