It could well be, that someone took assets from the Genesis version and made a homebrew version on the GG? And now asking for 'moneys'? .

Forgot about Blasphemous. Still being developed, but it's looking to be one of those dark, bloody and brutal ones.

Not sure about Salt and Sanctuary and Bloodrayne:Betrayal but you could do well by trying Slain: Back from Hell and Blades of Vengeance for Gen/MD. And of course Cotton 2: Magical Night Dreams. Probably not

Never played Contra: Hard Corps, but I enjoyed Contra III. Best game in the series IMO. Contra: Hard Corps is my personal favorite, plus it's one of those games, which gets loops or New Game+s just right(multiple characters and routes).

Skyrim was nice but most The Elder Scrolls fans prefer Morrowind. While Oblivion are totally forgotten. Yeah, The Elder Scrolls fans presumably were slapped pretty hard with Oblivion.

I'm sure there's also titles where the developers didn't really know what to do with the concept after the first game. Is there a clear definition how the sequels should be worked on? Surely you can make more of the same, change something or completely reinvent the thing, but in most cases - it sold well, so they made more of it. Who can be blamed, that in the meantime, some players discovered - roasted bread with melted cheese on top tastes better or they like it better than just bread without it and moved on to that . Buying potential is quite hard to determine, games become 'underrated' or 'hidden gems' over time, just because someone decided to buy a bicycle instead of a game, not what it was bad at release to begin with. You can do some research before release, but still, it wouldn't guarantee anything. I'd say Diablo 3 is under the shadow of Diablo 2, but it could be pretty controversial .

The Lost Vikings-Multi character switching(doesn't have to be all on-screen at once) -Puzzle platforming -Each character having their own unique powers/abilities Kyatto Ninden Teyandee for the Famicom (NES) should do the trick, don't take it for granted tho. There's Crystal Cave Classic and Escape Goat 1&2. Both similar in concept.

Oh hello! So we've got RE 2 board game now. It's got zombie Marvin Branagh in it and all that. With campaign funded in a week or so, "it looks like the party won't be cancelled"

I'd say pretty much every Contra, Metal Slug, Turrican or Mega Man clone is generally OK.(several examples: Journey to Silius, CrossFire|Demon Front, GunForce 1 & 2|Jim Power, Gunlord, unreleased Hardcore from Dice looked promising| Darkwing Duck, Mitsume ga Tooru). With a few exceptions ( Contra Force is questionable, Stargate on Genesis is hardly my favorite too). It's too many to list really. One game i'd like to highlight separately though: upcoming Antipole DX, a remake of the PC/X360 bare-bones original. It's more like action platformer with added 'gravity' gimmick, but most importantly-it has one the coolest main character designs ever for a given genre, in my opinion. Really like this.

This should without a doubt be a top 20 game. The list is greatly affected by platforms and ports, so i wouldn't be so sure.
