I assume everyone here knows how much I love the series, so this is a dream come true. The logo was shown during Sony's TGS press conference, presumably for Vita and PS3.

Wanna play this series, local game store has Deception 2 and 3 but a bit pricy and Tecmo didn't bring over the PS1 classic versions to the West. D:

Hopefully it gets a US release (being Koei-Tecmo, chances are fair for at least a digital Vita release).
Still planning on eventually ordering either Deception 2 or Deception 3 off of an Amazon seller at some point. Just not sure whether 2 or 3 would be better.

Ok this whole double numbered title thing is getting silly, and I'm not looking forward to the trophies for this thing. Also, inb4 DLC traps.
If Tecmo is smart they won't blow a huge budget on this and release it as a 40$ game, though some kind of create-a-something feature would be nice.

They're pretty inexpensive, really. You can get 1-3 complete and in good shape for under $70-shipped off of the Amazon Marketplace. Surprisingly, Trapt is the most expensive of the series.... that thing used to be going for peanuts.

I remember how my oldest brother would talk about the first game. He absolutely loved it, (even though he never remembered the title,) and it made me want to play it. Sadly, it's not available for digital distribution, otherwise I would happily plop down the money for it.
... Actually, the first one doesn't seem too bad in Used Condition... Should I go for it?

It's not actually double-numbered. 1 and 3 are technically standalone games. 4 is named as a sequel to 2, but was marketed in the west as a standalone game.

Holy shit. Never would have expected this in a million years. What's next? Fear Effect: Inferno?

Personally, 3 > 2 > 4 > 1 (just because it's so abstract)

Holy shit. Never would have expected this in a million years. What's next? Fear Effect: Inferno? Don't you even, DON'T YOU EVEN. I could not live with the heartbreak of losing that game again. The Kagero series is such an odd little thing. Hopefully they can bring back a few of the cut features from the first game or at least make something new up for it since most of the games are largely the same.

True, but my point is that there's nothing terribly unique about Kagero and Trapt compared to Dark Delusion that necessitates referring to them as a separate moniker.

I love the concept of these kinds of games, but I hope they improve the gameplay mechanics of the new one.
I never played the PS2 game, but the main thing I remember about the PS1 games was that it was awesome at first, but the further you get into the game, the more it feels luck-based. Some people will just dodge every trap you throw at them, and it ends up feeling like a dice roll on every single trap, where you have a 1 in 10 chance of them actually getting caught each time.
Come to think of it, these games were basically tower defence games before tower defence was a genre, weren't they? Except instead of whittling down health bars for streams of units, you were just kind of hoping that a single unit's luck would run out eventually from all the traps in their way.

The PS2 game has traps that are much harder to be avoided that you can use in combos. Of course this serves to make the game itself largely on the easy side.

Why the heck is it being announced as IV? Are they disregarding Trapt?
