To me, it's more about having all of the characters, stages, and etc available. It's like playing last year's Madden on PSP just because it's portable. More power to anyone who isn't quite as picky, though.

Still a shameless cash grab that exists solely to exploit consumers.
It bothers me how manipulative and exploitative games and their pricing models have become these days.

This thread is just over a year old, and yet is filled with pretty steady updates on Capcom's shattiness. How depressing.

Microtransactions to a non-F2P game. Yay! Let's follow the example of Assassin’s Creed Unity that attracted lots of negative feedback from both customers and reviewers. I don't know about the quality and popularity of the latest RE games but to me it seems like it's Capcom's dead horse. Maybe I'm wrong.

Its going to be episodic as well. 5 episodes on a weekly basis at $5.99 a piece as well as $25.99 for a season pass. Is there some sort of benefit business-wise to do episodic games? I can understand if the game isn't complete so you can release the game piecemeal just get something out there until the rest is ready. But if its a weekly release I imagine that game is complete, or at least 99% there. Why not wait the month and release the complete title?
I thought Revelations was a good game when I played it on 3DS. It played a lot more like the earlier games. I don't know how it translated to consoles. Its dissappointing that they followed it up with this usual Capcom crap.

That they might finally figure out they're never gonna compete with Call of Duty or whatever and go back to doing what they do best?

I'm with thoothan. At this point I'm kind of thinking the best I can hope for is for Capcom to go out of business, so that their IP can be sold off to a company that cares.

... go back to doing what they do best? I think it's been such a long time since Capcom did anything that could be considered "the best" that they've forgotten what they're actually good at, or else have fired all the people who got them there.

I think it's been such a long time since Capcom did anything that could be considered "the best" that they've forgotten what they're actually good at, or else have fired all the people who got them there. What is it that Capcom always did best, though? IMO, they were GREAT at making arcade-style games that were distinctively Japanese in their flair and felt like they all encompassed tiny little fantasy worlds. Also fantastic pixel art, plus their games always had a certain ingenuity to them - whether they were rather serious (Demon's Crest, Resident Evil) or childlike (Mega Man 8, the Disney games), they always felt like they were serious about it and not just phoning in clichés. Now you tell me which of these qualities would allow them to stay in business nowadays? At least half of these are not in demand by today's market at ALL.

I was still kinda hoping Dark Arisen would at least get a PC port on Steam. But yeah, this is a shame indeed.
