Nah I think he has it totally backwards. Bloodborne = stylistic old timey way of saying stillborn. The game is explicit about ritual blood/etc. coming from child sacrifice and the like. Look at the amount of kids in the "choir" after you fight The One Reborn. The super secret alternate ending items are parts of umbilical cords. The blood comes from the remnants of tragically cut short or mutated childbirth, not from menstrual blood. Adella's blood is so potent because of how she was born and raised by the Healing Church.
He also, hilariously misses the more obvious ways one could make his own argument make sense too regarding the moon changes and such, and it's kind of telling that in a game filled with body horror in general that I've seen several dudes latch onto this snap call of "This has blood + women + gross stuff in it, it must be about menstruation."

I've made it to Rom. It's such a process fighting this thing. As well as the person inside the school with the whip. I have to sprint past her since I can hardly put a dent in her HP.
Also, I thought that the Forbidden Woods was a very cool area.

If you want to cheese that whip wielding hunter, go through the fog door after getting her attention and you can just run up repeatedly and hit her through the fog. I feel like of any minor gripes I might have with the game, the only one that I find frustrating is those various NPC hunter fights. They just have way too many HPs. I beat several without cheesing them but they're so annoying and so tedious I just started using whatever cheap methods like leaving/returning and backstabbing them over and over again, trying to get them caught on geometry, etc.

I haven't made much progress in the main game, I went to the forest and got the tonsil stone although I don't know what to do with it. I'm not sure what to do in Yahar ghul aside from fight the boss at this point - I fought him once when I was back at like level 45 and almost killed him but died but have since gotten sidetracked on the chalice dungeons. Figures that Patricia the Hutt would be the one to write the article discussing it. Alright, question - anyone have any tips on how to deal with the "spaz and retard zombies" in the chalice dungeons? I guess more specifically, the ones that appear in the lower dungeons that run super fast up to you and slash away madly? I can't stand those fuckers, and I'm at a loss at how to deal with them cleanly.

Oh yeah those sickle dudes? Don't side step or dodge just back off and you can bait them into doing a jumping slash that leaves them super open.

I'll give it a try - I'm p sure they've got sickles but usually I'm too busy trying not to die. Pisses me off because it feels like they (and those "shepherd" guys) can just keep slashing indefinitely, so if you're cornered you're fucked.

I don't like that I'm already at the end of the game. This game is far too fun to be so short.

Finished NG. Despite its brevity and lack of customization, I really enjoyed the straight forward, bare bones approach. Given that it's supposed to take place over one night, the shortness makes sense. Absolutely loved the Victorian/Lovecratian imagery and setting. And the more aggressive fights were more my style so I liked that. I had very little interaction with NPCs though. Alfred was the only one I saw to the end and the only one I ever found a summon sign for. Everyone else was either killed or disappeared. And covenants seem pretty useless too. As for the last boss and my ending Moon Essence was a push over. Very anti-climatic. I got the ending where the doll picks up and cradles the weird leach thing. Kinda weird.

I don't like that I'm already at the end of the game. This game is far too fun to be so short. I only just got to the endgame the other day. I apparently have about 85 hours in the game but most of that's from chalice dungeons. I got the "bad" ending then reloaded from a cloud save so I don't have to restart all the way from the beginning. I agree about the NPCs, they feel more or less like an afterthought. I apparently did all the right things except for two minor NPCs, and the death of a major one. Did you consult a guide? I got two of the three you-know-whats blind, but never would have thought where to look for the last one without my wife telling me. I'm gonna try and get the rest of the achievements for the hell of it, the problem is that I overleveled (107) for the dungeons and now I've promised to level no more so I can hang out with Soulhouf some more (It'll be worth it, it was fun playing coop with him a couple of weeks ago). I think I have two more chalice dungeons to go in order to get to the one Trophy boss in the dungeons.

I consulted a guide to find out what some items were before I finished the game to know wether or not they carried over to NG+. That's where I found out about the 3 things. I have been using the guide more for my second game. I've already acquired 3 NPCs at the Cathedral. I had 4, but attacked Eileen after the fight with Henryck and now she's aggro(stupid loose trigger buttons). The good thing about the shortness of the game is that it makes attempting to get all the trophies a little more plausible. I'll probably spend more time in chalice dungeons this weekend. I haven't done too much with them since the first levels are a bit tedious I think. But I'm looking forward to the higher level ones. I finished my first game at/around level 75. I'm at level 92 now, I think. Not sure if I'm over powered or not for the chalices.

There's stuff like shitloads of summoned spiders gang-raping you, etc. Enemies take a lot more damage in the lower chalice dungeons and stuff, and can one- or two-shot you even when built up.

Good to know that there is a challenge there. Especially if the spiders are there. The only thing I've found harder about NG+ is that the bosses have a shit ton of HP. When you say you got the worst ending, did you let Gehrman kill you?
