Those are only in Japan, though. Zanac X Zanac and the Rockman Complete Works games eventually saw US releases on PSN, and the unlockable port of Ninja Gaiden NES in the Xbox reboot was available in all regions. You're still thinking too hard.

Your arguments might hold more weight if you weren't always so sanctimonious. Glad to know those Rockman ports are on the American PSN, though.

Rockman Complete Works and Famicom Zanac (as part of the Zanac X Zanac collection) are on PSN. There's no special legal clauses preventing third-party NES and SNES games from being rereleased on non-Nintendo systems, it's just that very few publishers have cared to do so. One other example I can remember is that Super G&G is on Capcom Generation 2 for the PS1/Saturn. Mega Man Anniversary Collection's versions of 1-6 are the Complete Works versions, apparently, although the GameCube version lacks the arranged music. I think they also lack Navi Mode on all versions. Super Ghouls'n'Ghosts is also on both Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1 and Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded, based on the Capcom Generations version. Also, to my knowledge, Xbox Ninja Gaiden had the NG Trilogy versions of the three games rather than the NES originals, but it still counts as that was Nintendo-only too. Other examples I can think of are the Sunsoft Memorial compilations for the PS1, as well as a similar one by Jaleco that has plenty of their NES/FC games, including the Western-developed port of RodLand.

I just don't buy the explanation that they don't see any money in it. Clearly there's a market for people buying the same old games all over again. That was the entire premise of Xbox Live Arcade to begin with.

I think most publishers would just prefer to put their NES and SNES games on Nintendo's Virtual Console, so they can easily shove them into a standardized package with an emulator and call it a day. They're probably also thinking that Nintendo players are the most likely to hold nostalgia for these systems and games.
Also, XBLA quickly veered off from its initial purpose of featuring retro ports and smaller arcade-style games, while Nintendo has still remained authentic to what the Virtual Console platform was intended for. When the Wii started getting newer and bigger downloadable games, they created the separate category of WiiWare.

There also may just be some sort of distribution rights involved. As long as Nintendo keeps using the properties, Konami may not be able to publish them on other consoles. I don't have any proof of this, but that's how IP rights work in other mediums and given Nintendo's iron fist policies in the 80's Konami may have signed them over.

If anything I'm just bummed that we Americans got the short end of the stick when it comes to games like Akumajou Densetsu. It's a damn shame that they can't include both versions or something on a VC purchase (kind of like M2's Monster World collection on xbox, etc.), although I imagine there's some legal bullshit preventing this.
On topic, I haven't played the Bayonetta 2 demo yet but I'm really looking forward to this. I never finished the first game, so this will be a good opportunity to do so.

I only played thru the first game once, but I've gotten more into action games since then, so I'm fairly excited to get to play it again.

I got stuck on my Hard mode replay on the first one. This seems like as good a time as any to play it again, though.

As somebody who thought the original game was one of the best games of the last generation, I really wish I had the space for a WiiU right now. Tell me, though: Does this game go anywhere close to as amazing as a guy who is more or less the frickin' pope of the Bayonetta universe trying to kill you with a death ray, and then headbutting a building into him?
