Yeah, I just don't really see what's controversial. Heaving him wear the Keffiyeh isn't automatically racist or bigoted. In fact it's not, but since there were online complaints for every single other character (e.g. the Latina girl being a "sassy Latina" stereotype, etc.) I was expecting a much bigger outrage. I figured Shaheen was a bigger target but apparently it's not.

There were a ton of racist jokes, but that's to be expected at this point.

I don't get it. Maybe I'm missing something here since I'm not into Tekken, but she's just a cute girl in a cute outfit? In the world of Japanese entertainment products, she doesn't look notable to me one way or the other. Who exactly is complaining? Is it that people are complaining that she's too sexualized? Or is the complaining from women-hating dudebros who feel especially threatened by bubbly idols because they're even more unobtainable and their cheerful enthusiasm clashes with the cynical world view of neckbeards?

It's just a byproduct of the entire GamerGate debacle. Now EVERYTHING involving females is an issue on par with abortion.

Who exactly is complaining? No one, we just reached the point where people whining about the non-existing claims of a certain group are actually louder than said group.

First, it was the fuss about Lucky Chloe being "too moe" for a "serious" fighting game like Tekken. Then it was about the new filipino character Josie Rizal for being a wrong representation of the country's national hero. Now? It's all about Yoshimitsu's new design for being too weird and awful:
We're talking about a space ninja defender of the poor people a la Robin Hood that totally changes his look in every game going from weird to weirder, yet the tentacle-alien look is the big problem, the ultimate blasphemy. Go figures.

So there's nothing out of line when a Japanese fighting game includes a character with tentacles all over him, when that country routinely gets around pornography censorship by using tentacles instead of penises? Yoshimitsu is definitely a weird character, but the last thing I need to think about when playing as him (or god help me, against him) is who or what he's about to rape.

It just seems like, with Yoshimitsu's new costume and the cables coming off of Gigas' back, that they're trying to show off their physics engine. "TEKKEN: NOW WITH TENTACLES"

Four months, we were free of this subject for four months. Four months ago it was about Lucky Chloe. Now it's about Yoshimitsu.

I hope there's a drastic redesign of Paul to really rile up the masses.

I, for one, welcome the eventual doujins.
