The controversy is retarded, and so is the character design.

I have no experience with Tekken, but I think Lucky Chloe looks totally cute <3

What is wrong with some people? There's nothing controversial about Lucky Chloe. If you don't like the character, then don't play as her or the game. It shouldn't be that hard. Let the game developers decide what's good for *their* games and what belongs to *their* game universes. Also, is it just me or do most of these gaming controversies come mainly from North America? // If anything, there should be more hate on Katarina Alves character. At least I don't see anything appealing about her. That being said, I don't mind too much either if she is left in the game.

There have definitely been controversies elsewhere in the world. I struggle to think of too many offhand, but that's perhaps because I live in North America, and most of the video game news I read is Western-based in nature. That doesn't necessarily mean the rest of the world doesn't get worked up about various subjects either though.

People suddenly got dumber after GamerGate controversy? There, I said it. By the way I like Harada's answer. Harada's answer reminded me of what George Kamitani said after all the stupid controversies about the Dragon's Crown characters, asking if the Western players wanted more burly dwarves instead of female characters. Also, people complained (even if a lot less) against the other new female character too, saying that the "sassy Latina" is too tired a stereotype, or something like that. By this "logic", I should complain too about the new male character, since as an Italian person I must have been offended by the fact that he's an Italian character full of religious references (wears some kind of frock whose colors are white and yellow and he has a key, which are all things on the Vatican flag, plus he's named Serafino = "seraph") but powered by some kind of demonic force (plus the symbolism of the ram's skull on his back). But I won't do that, since I couldn't care about either Tekken or the Vatican, much less these ridiculous controversies.

Have you ever played a Tekken game before? Because you've described almost every single female character the series has ever had besides Jun and ...uh... Because most of those women, while pandering, also tend to have character designs rooted in one traditional martial art or another. For example, most of the time I can take Asuka seriously. Did you even read the rest of my post..? It's also a series where you can play as two different bears, an incest samurai, a tree person with changing genders, multiple robots, and a boxing kangaroo. I'm not seeing why a girl wearing cat cosplay is somehow "controversial" for Tekken.

Because its Tekken god dammit. Honestly, this all reminds me of these people I knew that were upset that Rocket Raccoon would be in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. They really shouldn't be playing games like Tekken or Capcom Vs with that stick up their bum.

Yeah, I don't get it. Especially in these series that have 20+, sometimes 30+ characters over multiple sequels. People need to relaize that the well has to run dry at some point, and then you get characters like this.

Imagine people feeling offended about a girl dressing as a bunny in a gamer with farting bears, dinosaurs, kangaroos, dragons, ogres, high heeled-assassins, cyborgs, zombies, angels and demons, hundred year olds gigantic muscled dudes, and a bunch of scantly clad girls.
I mean, it's pretty hillarious that with all this zaniness going on since the second game at the very least, people are NOW crying about this.
It's pretty goddamn stupid.

I was a kid in the late 90s. I much preferred Street Fighter and 2D games, but back then, Tekken (3) was all the hype. So the usual reply was that SF was childish and that Tekken was where it's at, since it was 3D and more realistic. Of course, those quotes also came from kids.
By that time, the game already had the farting miniature dinosaur/dragon, the bach ball mode and the fighting panda. It's funny how context changes everything.
I'm not sure if the character is so over the top it's actually somewhat "educational" again (as in: it shows fans of cosplay what most of their stuff usually boils down to). Either way, it's not exactly new ground for Tekken to include super weird characters. It's just that the 90s are over.

Does this even qualify as a controversy though? A bunch of users on an internet forum complain that a new fighting game character looks stupid, producer makes obvious joke on Twitter about removing it from NA version of the game. Originally it sounded like standard internet whinging, only reason it seems to have blown up is so morons can continue living their fantasy that SJWs are ruining video gaming.
It IS an awful character design, but then again "Tekken" and "crappy characters" go hand in hand, so I dunno why people are complaining.
(DISCLOSURE: I am not a Tekken fan.)

I find it much more interesting how people still get offended by things like that character. SJW and anti-SJW are too irrelevant as a demographic to care about.

It's not that people are "offended" by it, they just think it's dumb looking. Japanese idol stuff rarely translates well outside of the country, especially in a genre usually filled with muscly dudes.
Can't fault Harada though, he's clearly having a good time with it.
