Oh come on people, don't be so stuck up, sure memes may be a little tired in the present, but don't act like they didn't provide plenty of laughs back in the day. Me I'm fond of just about any meme from the 2006/2007 era, I also love all those old YTMND "fads", YTMND is a site that I feel like I'm the only person on Earth who remembers, but that site provided just about the most fun I've ever had on the internet. olroxquarters.ytmnd.com/

Just like how Family Guy will be relevant and hilarious in 10 years! Memes, by their nature, are simply popular by repetition. That is the cheapest route to humor. Good humor is timeless. That's why people like George Carlin and Bill Hicks are still funny. Their humor is more cerebral and are capable of affecting people of numerous generations. Edit: I am a douchebag comedy hipster.

There have been several memes I've enjoyed in the past. Unfortunately they tend to get played-out over time. I used to find stuff like Doge and Bitches Don't Know Bout My _____ and Imma let you finish but _____ and other memes funny, but eventually I got tired of it. I kind of miss rickrolling though - perhaps because I unironically enjoy Rick Astley's music. If a new meme came along that I enjoyed, that would be nice, but chances are I would get sick of it within a few weeks.

Same about liking Astley's music, but also because the meme was often used to trick people on 4chan who were looking for kiddie porn.

Those were funny. Until every chucklefuck on god's green earth decided to do their own version and had no fucking clue what the actual joke was. Memes in the modern state are just a sign of someone being unable to think like a human being, especially people who *still* make rage comics. They're still out there.

What does sit kind of funny with me is that people equate memes as just putting words on a picture. And they tell me they made a meme. And get all upset when I tell them, that's the dumbest sentence ever spoken to me.

YTMND screwed up my mind when I was in, like, 6th grade. No joke. I had no idea who Hitler was, so I made tons of crappy YTMNDs based on him back in the day. Then I remember trying to make a Game-Maker-based sequel to Atari's Adventure with a swastika in it... My dad immediately said "Take it out" and proceeded to scold me. I was a terrible child. Thanks, Internet.

I was originally gonna come here and post some joke about Metal Gear Solid 2 or just laugh at the idea of liking memes, but then I gave it some thought, mentally went back to Summer of 2004 and brought this back from my memory.

Funny thing, that; YTMND actually introduced me to a lot of music I'd otherwise have never given a chance. Daft Punk, Nightwish, and Juno Reactor, among others.

I do think memes can work. But only as a punchline with context and good comedic timing. Not shoe-horned in everywhere just to be part of the cool kids. Also, let's not try to make everything ever a meme, that just leads to dead on arival garbage like the arrow in the knee thing.

Oh man... I remember when rage comics were the funniest thing in the world to me. I kind of miss finding them funny, actually. Nowadays though I either don't laugh, or I cringe at them. What does sit kind of funny with me is that people equate memes as just putting words on a picture. And they tell me they made a meme. And get all upset when I tell them, that's the dumbest sentence ever spoken to me. I think a lot of people use the term "meme" as a synonym for "image macro", not realizing that part of what makes a meme a meme is the fact that it has caught on already and gone viral.

I know why they do it, but it bothers me far more then it should.
