Memes are bad.
no really they're like the laziest shortcut to funny. the entire basis of the joke with any meme is "it's hilarious, because I've seen it before! it references a thing I know! haha"

The thing about memes is that, by the time they're classified as memes, they've lost all of the context that gave them humor to begin with. When a video game made in 2014 tries to unironically work "all your base" into its dialogue, I don't laugh anymore.
That said, I occasionally will go back to some of the really old stuff, like Joel Veitch's viking kittens videos.

I honestly couldn't tell you who any of these animals are supposed to represent, like happy dog, sad bear, etc. All of it confuses and frightens me.

Rather than band-wagoning onto something that everyone else is beating to death, maybe try to come up with something new that people can enjoy. Everything gets old eventually.

The meme is the final stage of a joke's life cycle. Once it has become a meme, the general public finds out about it, and if we've learned anything from the Hollywood movie industry or network TV, the general public will ruin everything they touch.

Yeah, I'm going to have to echo the sentiment of once it's a meme it's old hat. That said I do like the Badger Badger Badger video, maybe because I like badgers....

Oh come on people, don't be so stuck up, sure memes may be a little tired in the present, but don't act like they didn't provide plenty of laughs back in the day.
Me I'm fond of just about any meme from the 2006/2007 era, I also love all those old YTMND "fads", YTMND is a site that I feel like I'm the only person on Earth who remembers, but that site provided just about the most fun I've ever had on the internet.
