I'll step in an mention that their WEAKEST game might be Korra? It's like all their other beat'ems except really lacklustre, lacks even the interesting elements of Transformers.

VANQUISHOr Bayonetta. But Vanquish was so rewarding. I also really enjoyed Anarchy Reigns. I have to say, it's a shame Vanquish flopped. Because it was perfect. I dont think it exactly flopped because there is an essential reissue. xtremmedia.com/Vanquish_Essentials_Ps3.htmlmaybe it sold less than expected.

Yeah, it was speculation on my part here.

Speaking of Platinum, has anybody played Infinite Space, their DS game? I found a copy not too long ago, but just haven't dug into it. Infinite Space was developed by Nude Maker. Not saying it's bad or anything, just that it's not really a Platinum developed game.

So in the end, Vanquish is vindicated and placed on top of the list, along with Bayo 2. I'm happy.

Speaking of Platinum, has anybody played Infinite Space, their DS game? I found a copy not too long ago, but just haven't dug into it. It's a personal favorite. It's absolutely fucking huge in the sheer amount of things you can do. Really like the story as well ...until the final hours. It feels like the game was rushed at some point in development, because Your choices amount to very little in who you end up loving, and the big bad and your old friend turned traitor just appears to form an alliance because suddenly existence is being destroyed by bored alien gods that were technically foreshadowed, but still feel like they came out of nowhere. The story ends in a way that is super epic, but doesn't amount to diddly poop for Yuri's arc beyond "yeah I sure wanna do the thing and will do it."
It's like they saw the ending of Gurren Lagann and didn't get why it was so great. Doesn't help this causes all the interesting political dram to just evaporate. But despite that, I had a blast. Customizing ships alone is great fun, but I really had most my attention on recruiting people to by side. There's a ton of cool crew members you can gain, including a lady battle droid and, hilariously, space idol twins who sing horribly inappropriate songs that people like for some reason.

The game was directed by Hifumi Kono and designed by Masafumi Nukita, both are Nude Maker heads. Plantinum's involvement was producer oriented (Atsushi Inaba) which had to do with making sure the project stayed on track, rather than its nitty gritty creative elements.

Hiedo Kojima was only a producer for the ZOE games, yet they would be completely different monsters if not for his involvement. Producer doesn't just mean "guy who does jack shit" all the time, you know.

If you bother to go back and read interviews with Atsushi Inaba and Hifumi Kouno, you'll realize this was Nude Maker's baby. Platinum handled the business end of things, including technical issues and deciding it would be a DS game. But Nude Maker actually created the game's content. That's just reality, whether you approve of it or not.

Just because Platinum wasn't the main creative force doesn't mean they didn't have a significant role in its creation.

Well anyone going into Infinite Space expecting the usual brand of Platinum level insanity will have another experience entirely. (And I'm not saying that's a bad thing.)
To get back on track, I believe Vanquish is Platinum's best game. It's just a straight up awesome thrill ride from start to finish.

Metal Gear Rising for me. It was really a surprise since I had written off the Metal Gear series at this point and I'm not a huge fan of most 3D character action games. But MGR just really clicked with me, it feels faster paced than Bayonetta and the aesthetics aren't as off-putting. Would take RULES OF NATURE ten billion times over loopy lounge music. I could zandatsu things all day long too.
Vanquish was really cool but I also played Bulletstorm around the same time, which I felt did similar things but better.

Vanquish to me is a very good game, though I'm not really fond of the whole cheap attempt to be "mature" with people cussing like idiots and gore that looks like meatballs in a spaghetti dish but I digress. I haven't beaten it yet but I did get past the plot twist of which I won't spoil it here.
As for MGR, I'm probably going to piss people off but I really don't like the game. Granted it's a different genre and has a good idea regarding a Raiden centric game but apparently for some reason Platinum thought it would be a good idea to make Raiden a psychopath for some reason even though he moved on from his child soldier past as well as a bunch of cursing. I haven't played it yet but I knew once it became a different game than originally being Rising it no longer became my top game to buy in 2013. Though sadly that game looked more Metal Gear than the Phantom Pain is (which to be fair is a very good game don't get me wrong).
