My guess is that it has something to do with the treatment of the English language in Japan as some fancy exotic thing to exploit. If anything the way how the developer is named makes it Japanesey which goes hand in hand with the fascination with the English language.

If we're allowed to count their Clover days I'll say God Hand. If it's strictly Platinum, then it's a toss up between Mad World and Bayonetta.

Gotta be Vanquish, simply because it's the only Platinum game I've played. But beyond that, Vanquish is probably my favorite 3rd person shooter. The mechanics are so fluid that it's a thing of beauty watching a really skilled player tear through a crowd.

Very different too. It'a a shame they did not produce more games based on this model. And also welcome to the forum.

Sega has a decent track record in the PC market so I remain cautiously hopeful.

I wish I could say Viewtiful Joe, but I know that was still under Capcom

I really didn't like Viewtiful Joe at all. Only the DS version amuses me a little bit, but it is needlessly complicated with all these powers and I used the "slow" power a lot... which in the end, made the game in itself a slow, slow, repetitious nightmare. I don't even like the graphical style. What is good in this game? Its style and nothing else. So slow...

Holding the right shoulder during slow mo speeds joe up (at double the cost)
There's a move Joe does where if you slow, zoom, duck and punch he'll do an uppercut barrage that tears away at the enemy's health. The thing is, I had no idea it exist till the second game where an obstacle can only be passed using it!
Anyways, I enjoyed vj largely cause the characters and humor. The style is great, but I can see how it wouldn't fly with some. They're games that are more than the sum of their parts to me.

Speaking of Platinum, some opinions on Transformers devastation? I like it OK, but in what is a real first, I think I prefer the Western treatment (battle for/fall of Cybertron) to the japanese one. This one feels like a budget Platinum game, and most of all: I have zero attachment to the Transformers cartoon. In Switzerland, Gobots reigned supreme... These are my childhood. And they've never been Michael Bayed. I win, Transformers!

Platinum are gonna do a TMNT game. I haven't played the Transformers game (hey there, @colonel Kurtz ) - does it play like a beat 'em up? Would it be realistic to expect a TMNT beat 'em up made by Platinum? One with local multiplayer? Can I dream? Pretty pleeeeease?
(They also uploaded the trailer with a crapton of subtitles in various languages - the German translation seems to be pretty good, actually!)

The combat is very high speed rewarding the use of vehicle's cle attacks and having different playable characters helps although only grimlock have a vastly different combat style. My major gripe with the game is that features rpg elements of stats, level up and weapons that have the usual effect of making the difficulty swing wildly depending of what you got dropped and also most ranged weapons are useless.

Sure, Vanquish's story is hot garbage, but the gameplay is sheer joy. Bulletstorm did the story better, but it wasn't quite as tight.
Bulletstorm's the best Duke Nukem game since 3D, that's for sure.

I am replaying Bulletstorm right now... It's still a gorgeous game, and the "tricked" deaths still don't make the game stand out as unique, and are still pretty random. You more oftem get a bonus by accident than voluntarily. It's still a great, great game, with a beautiful world to explore.
