I don't use Mary Sue anymore because too much of its foundation stems from the Internet. I brought it up in real life and was met with some strange looks. Even more-so when I explained it.
I go for "self-insert," or "omnipotent self-insert" if the first is too vague.

So... Can anyone explain what happened to the TIE Fighter after it crashed in the desert? Did it... Melt? Sink into the sand? Disintegrate?

I can see arguments for both sides as far as Luke's presence in the ending goes. It doesn't ruin the movie, but it's not a choice I would have made. Just makes the ending feel even more like the fanfiction it already is.

Good point! Aren't TIE Fighters supposed to have no shields?

Good point! Aren't TIE Fighters supposed to have no shields? Given that the Last Order is a remnant I figured they had limited resources and jury-rigged their remaining TIEs to have shields.

What about Luke having a less realistic prosthetic hand? Did he wear the first one out and his insurance would only cover a cheaper replacement?

A possibility, but it seems like one hell of a stretch in a civilization that has hyperspace travel and telekinesis. As far as TIEs go, though, the reason they're supposed to be so maneuverable is because the Empire put absolutely zero defensive considerations into them. They're basically a seat flying through space.

Canon wise, cloning Jedi/Sith was very risky and often ended poorly. Maybe that extended to body parts as well? Film making/storytelling wise, robot hands are a hell of a lot cooler than cloned hands.

Film making/storytelling wise, robot hands are a hell of a lot cooler than cloned hands. It's been a long time since I read any of the books, but the way I remember it, it wasn't that it was especially difficult to clone Jedi. It was that the clones were never able to use the Force. This would be a moot point when it comes to replacement parts, since a cybernetic prosthetic wouldn't have any midichlorians in it, either. Of course this makes the plot for Force Unleashed II all the more ridiculous, but hey...
