Pilotwings 64. Still never came out on virtual console. I just realized it had the WTC represented in the game. So yeah that's a no-no for flight games. Paradigm may also own the characters and assets and they are gone. One of the characters is modeled after Nester (Nintendo Power comic) so who knows add that to the mix of copyrights.

About 99% of games based on licensed properties. This. Though I'll admit it's a minor miracle that they managed to get the Capcom Disney games re-released/remade.

I think the demand for a re-release of Konami’s Nanobreaker (by Koji Igarashi) is pretty low. One day no one will remember it even existed. I’m also reasonably certain we’ll never see Strider Returns again, in any shape or form. I'm curious about that game given the Igarashi connection but isn't it supposed to be bad? Re-releases for any Konami property seem pretty low :/ Yeah, we'll probably never even see re-releases of the older Metal Gear Solids beyond the HD collection, which is odd when you think about it. And same deal with Silent Hill, the HD collection of which was bungled so bad the PS2 originals are still the best way to play them. As time goes on and those games continue to be only legally available on older hardware, for future generations it'll be like only being able to watch Citizen Kane on VHS.

The Guy Game will likely never be rereleased, given that it was revealed after the game's release that it featured footage of a topless 17-year-old girl without her consent. Oh boy, there's one. Though a rerelease for that game would've been extremely stupid even without that.

From a similar time period, "windows 3.1 games without the source code", according to Night Dive; if they can't port the game away from requiring a copy of Win3.1 to run, they can't release the game legally. You can run them in Wine (even on a 64-bit OS), but that doesn't help actual Windows users. I think there are some ports of limited parts of Wine back to Windows, but probably not enough to run a Win 3.1 game. Here's a screenshot I made of me testing out RoboSport:

Any TMNT brawler in its original form, especially the arcade version of Turtles in Time.

@ Gamer Griff Nanobreaker seemed to run on the Lament of Innocence engine, so I mostly remember it for having the same fixed camera and empty, flat hallways (but much uglier). I never finished it though so maybe it got better? The combat was horribly tedious so I couldn’t stomach it for very long. Nanobreaker is probably alright if you can stand very slow and repetitive combat with ridiculous amounts of blood (that didn’t quite look like blood tbh, more like....oil? Was it oil in fact? I can’t remember)

I was just joking, mikezilla2. There's lots of games that people think will never see a rerelease, but anything can happen. That doesn't mean there aren't some good examples in this thread, or anything. But if Star Fox 2 can happen...

The licensed Legend Entertainment games seem a bit unlikely – Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, Companions of Xanth, Death Gate, and so on. I hear Death Gate actually appeared very, very briefly on GOG.com before someone realized they'd made a huge mistake. (Reportedly the authors of the books on which it is based have been badly burned by licensors in the past.) The same probably goes for the Discworld adventure games. I'd like to think that Bethesda might work something out with Infogrames/Atari to bring back Keen 6. It's not impossible - Classics Digital has been raiding the Infogrames back catalog as of late. I think there are some ports of limited parts of Wine back to Windows, but probably not enough to run a Win 3.1 game. Considerable progress has been made in that regard as of late. Behold! www.boxedwine.org/The magic works by running a Linux kernel with a rewritten X11 driver in DOSBox. And we have www.toptensoftware.com/win3mu/ to look forward to at some date in the distant future.

Cosmic Fantasy series.
Unless Konami somehow makes an effort to create the "PC-Engine Kurashikku!!!!!!" since they're Hudson Soft's parent company.

I was thinking about Gizmondo games, but i usually try to avoid using 'always', 'never', 'ever' etc. these days. Learned a lesson the hard way.
