Pilotwings 64. Still never came out on virtual console. I just realized it had the WTC represented in the game. So yeah that's a no-no for flight games. And yet it's perfectly okay for many companies to release games that basically whitewash warcrimes all over the world (the wars in Vietnam, Irak, Afghanistan etc.). Compare that to a mostly pacifistic and light hearted flight sim incidently featuring certain buildings. (If that actually was the reason, but it would not surprise me.)
The times we live in...

@ Gamer Griff Nanobreaker seemed to run on the Lament of Innocence engine, so I mostly remember it for having the same fixed camera and empty, flat hallways (but much uglier). I never finished it though so maybe it got better? The combat was horribly tedious so I couldn’t stomach it for very long. Nanobreaker is probably alright if you can stand very slow and repetitive combat with ridiculous amounts of blood (that didn’t quite look like blood tbh, more like....oil? Was it oil in fact? I can’t remember) its Several Years later - have you played it ?

just found out this thread exists and thought it'd be kinda funny to post on some of the games suggested here that DID get re-released in the years since
Too Human - re-released for free on the Xbox Marketplace and made backwards compatible with all post-360 consoles in 2019
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - received a port to modern systems called Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-reckoning in 2020, followed by a third expansion Fatesworn in 2021
Pilotwings 64 - made available for Nintendo Switch Online in 2022
Any TMNT brawler in its original form - the Cowabunga Collection released in 2022 has most definitively disproved that, featuring the original arcade games as well as the various console and handheld titles Konami made from 1989 to 1994
Metal Gear titles outside of the HD Collection - the NES titles (Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge) as well as the original MGS were released in the first volume of the Master Collection in 2023
Blade Runner - made available on GOG in 2019, followed by "Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition" for Windows and consoles in 2022

Beat me to it! There's also the Cosmic Fantasy series which Snake longed for. The whole series got ported to Switch in two sets in 2022 and late 2023. The first set got a translated English release about a month ago with a new translation for 2 which was the only one to have previously seen an English release via Working Designs. The second set just got a Japanese release in December of 2023 so it'll probably be a while before it gets translated. Blade Runner is weird where the 2019 version came from years and years of fans reverse engineering the engine to integrate it into ScummVM. The "Enhanced" Edition is supposed to be just completely awful in comparison and probably the worst effort from Nightdive. GOG and Steam just give you the ScummVM version because the reception has been so bad. Based on Steam reviews, it's not clear if the game is actually in decent shape now or if it's just not an obvious train wreck anymore. Edit: Forgot to bring up Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I'm not surprised it got rereleased eventually. The rights were always up for grabs for the right price. For a smidge of ultra-condensed backstory, the state of Rhode Island ended up with the rights after former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's 38 Studios went bankrupt and defaulted on a $75m loan the state had given him. Nobody wanted the rights when the state put up 38's assets up for auctions probably because it was just toxic at the time. The game was well reviewed, and it sold decently, 1.3m, it just didn't sell well enough considering that there was also a money sink MMO being developed at the same time. Enough time passed that KoA and disaster weren't synonymous anymore although it was received a little less well the second time around.

Also mentioned and available now: Metal Wolf Chaos released by devolver Digital Arcade donkey Kong and sky skipper released by hamster on switch. I think that was a joke post. All 3 were announced or released around the time of the post. Otherwise, I would have said this was a secret port summoning thread and to list all those wanted ports here now. I've been waiting for Killer 7 with motion/gyro aiming for well over a decade after all. (looks around impatiently)......

Yeah, that was a joke post. Didn't the rerelease of Metal Wolf Chaos kinda flop? Reviews weren't the greatest, and it seems like it came and went without much fanfare.

dsparil - yup. I get the feeling it was announced too early. Came out over a year later. Needed to target those impulse buyers.

Speaking of Cosmic Fantasy, I jumped on the Limited Run Games pre-order a few weeks ago. I can barely believe there was somehow a demand for the whole Valis series too. I look back at that old comment, and incidentally we did get the PC-Engine/CoreGrafx/Turbografx Mini! More games that will never be re-released...? Hmm... is it to soon to say Langrisser IV and V? Seems like they'll stay Japan-only Playstation Network.
