After I had taken screenshots for XIII on PC and reformatted the article, the review didn't happen because of time, but I didn't want to keep sitting on stuff after I suffered 2 hard drive crashes within less than a year.

Derboo actually replaced nearly all of the old video games with (mostly) PS2 images, so they look much nicer than they did before. They look a little blurry in snapshots since they run at a higher resolution and certain elements (the GUI) are at a different resolution than the sprites, but the full size versions are crisp compressionless PNGs.
But yeah, I never got the chance to sink enough time into KoF XIII to be comfortable writing a review for it. I'm still looking for one who can take up the helm on that one.

The KoF 12 ones are still jpg though. Like I mentioned before, with the Arcade PC Loader you can play all of those games and get crispy clear direct feed screenshots if you want to.

Oh those! I think that's how Derboo for the KoF XIII shots. Failing that, I have an HD cap card now, better than the s-video I was using before, so the quality would be about the same.

Just did the same for KoF XII. It's not a pretty game any way you put it, though... or maybe it's just because XIII looks so much better...

Minor correction: the characters section at the start doesn't mention Ryuji Yamazaki. He's a pretty notable character, having his own wikipedia page, and has appeared in multiple KOF games, so he should probably have his own profile added.
Yeah it's a small correction, but one I feel should be added.

Taking the chance of this thread resurrection to note that there is no mention of an apparently rare PC version of KOF '99 Evolution, obviously ported from the Dreamcast. I downloaded and played it years ago, so I have blurry memories about the quality of the port, but the 3D backgrounds didn't seem bad; I think that until XIII, it was the only KOF that could be played on PC without emulation.
A rhytm game based on KOF has been released on mobile platforms. It's also recent news that KOF 98 Ultimate and KOF 2002 Unlimited are coming to Steam within the next months. The release list from SNKP also mentions an Athena RPG for mobiles coming next year.
Rumors of the next main episode being 2.5D are around since last year but nothing was shown so far so it's probably going to miss the franchise's 20th anniversary, but better take more time than another KOF XII.

For those who can't easily get into KoF should first play the Neo Geo Pocket ones like R1 & R2 as they are at least very easy to get into. Hell i can't into Marvel vs Capcom series cuz how damn tedious it is Same with Street Fighter Alpha! so it's nothing different

KOF 98 UM Final Edition is now available by Steam. Which is nice.
Apparently it's not a very good port though.

KOF 98 UM Final Edition is now available by Steam. Which is nice. Apparently it's not a very good port though. What's wrong with the port? Other than maybe the too high requirements like the Metal Slug games have (DX10? Why?) And what are the 3 new characters? I'm sure they're even more alts made than the old UM had.

Just reading over the comments at NeoGAF indicate that it's a great port, just current iffyness with netcode, as usual.

Looking over the Steam thread, it's more mixed than negative yeah. A lot of people really like it as a port, but there are some who are upset with the removals of stuff in the PS2 version, like full screen and some other features, and bad online.
I'll probably get it regardless though, cause it's the only KOF with Wolfgang Krauser in it, aka the best.

Didn't KOF13 have less than stellar netcode, too? Too bad it's so rare that people use GGPO...

SNK is not very pro with online it seems. I tried playing Metal Slug 3 online with someone on Steam once.
Sheesh. Never again.
