Not to mention all the Ultimate speccy games.

Really, the best solution would be to have the character move in eight directions. It'd also have given the developers more options in how you can fend off enemies. Think about it -- this is a game where the only way to dodge an attack is to turn your back to it and walk away. Not to mention all the Ultimate speccy games. Speaking of which, are there any ZX Spectrum games that would withstand one month of Game Club's scrutiny? Or a series of games?

I was a commodore kid so my only experience was playing ultimate games on a friends amstrad CPC. Not sure how well they hold up or how tough they are. You could try the add the famous ones like Knightlore or Alien 8. There's a few other good non-ultimate isometric games such as Head over Heels.
Could we please take a break from isometric games though, I can't play another one after landstalker!

Could we please take a break from isometric games though, I can't play another one after landstalker! I feel the same way. I tried out the Zaxxon machine at the bar today after work, and it was too much for my brain to process.

I could never get the hang of Zaxxon (not that I've played it much).
I do recall a kid in my primary school having a Zaxxon board game when I was in primary school and being super jealous (I did however get to have a few games of it with him. I can't remember much about it sadly...I was pretty young at the time)

Asides from some text adventures or supremely difficult platformers I don't think you will find many spectrum games that will last you more than a couple of days to play. I'd always recommend Saboteur though- any game in which you can play a Ninja that kills people with bricks...

If you didn't have anything else planned for yourself, maybe!

Maybe I'll try...Nier ate my time this month with farming. I keep getting sidetracked by other stuff when this thing goes on.

Could I beat this game in a day? Not without a faq I'd say.

I registered just to say that Game Club is awesome. Looking forward to the Landstalker episode! Glad you like it. We'll have Ep. 6 up tonight or early tomorrow. BTW, everyone should feel free to tell me what you like and/or don't like about the podcasts. Give me your worst, Internet. ~ EDIT ~New podcast is HERE! Please let me know what you think of this one. Not only do you get the dry wit of AceWhatever, but also the inimitable muteKi, who waxes poetic on the Yamaha YM2612 FM synth chip.
