Unless she's motherfucking Granmamare, I think her real self would be smaller (and maybe even less busty) and was just created that way in order to impress adventurers and lull them into some false sensation of motherly comfort (or at least give'em something to masturbate over).

Reasonable enough at first, but consider that there's a Tomb of Giants section to the game. Clearly there are people of gargantuan stature in this world.

Yup - Like Hawkeye Gough, the giant blacksmith and the keepers at Sen's Fortress (although, if the giant skeletons are anything to go by, their kind are probably not among the ones buried there) . Gwynevere's illusion is even larger than those giants. On another note: The key stone mechanic reminds me a lot of the weights in La-Mulana.

hahaha as soon as I saw that in the video I thought of you this Still not entirely sure how Gwynevere could be a giant while Gwyn was the size of a normal man. Probably don't want to know, either. Rule 34 has a section devoted to Dark Souls, though, so I'm sure someone has already broached the subject. Gwyn shrank as he lost his power. If the statues in Anor Londo are anything to go by, he was considerably larger than the rest of his subjects. It's also possible that they can change size at will.

Well apparently the Easy Mode is not happening, it was mistranslation of an interview. I'll cite my source when I get to a computer. It is never been my kind of game, but I will never understand how it "wouldn't work". You just lower stats. I know that's not quite how the game works, but it would make fights quicker and simpler. Hell, if you don't go to far with reductions and limit what you can do a la Valkyrie Profile then you have a practice mode and everyone is happy.

Having an "easy mode" would fuck up the multiplayer system badly. Since your multiplayer partners are just whoever happens to be around at the time, not having everyone on (nominally) equal footing would require there to be several multiplayer "tiers." For example, how do you balance for someone playing on Normal being summoned by someone playing on Easy? I just don't see how there could possibly be an "easy" mode for this type of game, since most of the difficulty and challenge is in enemy attack patterns and environment and not in just how much damage output there is. You have to fight smarter, not stronger. (PVP not withstanding.)

I don't see why reducing the stats of enemies making mistakes more forgivable wouldn't work, just keep easy mode out of multiplayer. However, as I said I'm not a fan of these so this all just I'm looking just outside looking in and criticizing your carpets.

I can totally see different difficulty modes being available...it's not a crazy concept in the slightest. The problem is that it would fragment the multiplayer playerbase further than it already is (by having players locked into specific difficulties) and, more importantly, would result in a hella protracted development time. Sure, you could create different difficulty modes by quickly scaling stats...if you want your difficulty modes to suck and feel like an afterthought (hi CoD(anything):Veteran!). But "doing it right" (and following the mindset of studios like Bungie and Insomniac) is a hell of a task for a studio like From Software who already has enough problems balancing out the default difficulties in their games.
It's best they keep their focus a bit more limited so they can provide the best overall experience possible. Subtle tweaks and enhancements to the core game systems are invariably better than hacketjob difficulty settings (the shift from a hub world and grass farming to estus flasks and bonfires was GENIUS).

So excited for this. Dark Souls was easily my favorite game this generation.

I am somewhere between stoked and cautiously optimistic. There's a whole lot that could go wrong with this and Dark Souls is a hell of a name to live up to - but then, so was Demon's Souls.

Just please don't make me kill any cute animals again. Dragons? Fine. Ghosts? Sure. Puppies? No dice.
