I will definitely play the hell out of SoR4 but I expect very little from its soundtrack. Everything I’ve heard so far left me sort of meh... And that’s ok. SoR was a child of the 90’s and they’re clearly not trying to replicate that but instead going for something more contemporary. Just like SoR did when it was new.
I sure as hell wouldn’t wanna compose for this. It’s destined to disappoint.

Played two games today.
Folklore on PS3.
I love that it's set in Ireland and find the setting so interested. Unfortunately it's like every game republic game... Kind of bland and mediocre. is this one worth seeing out?
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball.
Forgot how good this game is. It's just a bunch of rhythm action games disguised as baseball but they are a load of fun. Pity this never got a Europe release. Also probably the only game to ever do free to play properly other than Warframe.

It clearly has its shortcomings from being pushed out early after the conole's launch. I liked it, but if you are not feeling it from the beginning, I don't think that'll change later on.

It's not SOR if Koshiro doesn't do the entire soundtrack! It wasn't the case with SoR 2-3 either, and Kawashima composed most of the good tracks from 3.

Anyone else playing COVID-19 atm? It's my first MMO and I must say it's a pretty tense experience, featuring elobarate stealth mechanics and RNG elements which can lead to potential loss of all your stats or even permadeath for your character and/or party members.
Can't wait for the sequel: COVID-20 - The Invisible Hand Strikes Back

Not bad, but I feel that Koshiro and Kawashima complemented each other just fine. I played through Nekketsu Ohyako and can't remember a single track, so... definitely keep Kawashima. Koshiro said in an interview that Kawashima, who was younger than him, was taking him to clubs and introducing him to a lot of then-new, harder-edged dance music that influenced the SoR2-3 soundtracks. So his contribution goes beyond just the tracks credited to him.

Likewise, outside of SoR 2&3 i don't remember him at all. In fact, a little of the new tracks i've heard, they lack inspiration, direction and theme. It's a hectic mess. To each their own anyway.

Maybe I’m playing COVID-19 wrong but I find this game incredibly boring. I’ve been stuck in an apartment for days now, maybe it’s a bug? I hear the number of players is increasing rapidly though. This is bigger than WoW already. I don’t get it.

The rules are changing almost on a daily basis and there are some significant regional differences as well, so chances are everybody is playing it wrong.

So I've finished The Journey Down chapter 3 and it's just as solid as previous chapters. Puzzles are usually relatively easy to figure out and the overall tone is lighthearted but not to the point of rendering the story pointless or too silly. Even when the protagonists are acting a bit mischieviously, they usually are good-natured, which is refreshing in a genre were sarcasm seems to be the norm. There are a couple of rough edges, though: The final act feels a bit rushed, featuring too many subplots and characters you barely get to know. And while it's a rather pretty looking game overall, some of the handdrawn elements tend to clash with the prerendered ones. And Cutscenes occasionally suffer from visible compression artifacts and some clunky animation. Nevertheless, this trilogy remains one of the best recent Lucas Arts-inspired adventure games out there.
Speaking of Lucas Arts, I've also started replaying Dark Forces and this one hasn't aged well. Not only does its overuse of grey-tones make it kinda ugly and depressing, it also makes everything look the same and thus orienetation needlessly difficult, which adds to the often annoyingly convoluted level-designs. The worst offender so far has been the stage 3 sewer-maze, featuring unintuititve switch-puzzles and lots of backtracking through very dark areas. This led to spending most of time looking at the map-overlay instead of the actual on-screen action. I actually rembember this being the part that also frustrated me back then. This is followed by a jumping-heavy canyon stage were dropping down chasms will instantly kill you. And you only get checkpoints and limited lives, no saving during a stage - thanks, but no. I still do like the dynamic Midi-music, though (using iMuse, I think). This is clearly a game that is too ambitious for its own good as it lacks the polish and focus of "simpler" games like Doom. And its quasi follow-up Outlaws improves upon it in most ways, even though the latter can be pretty rough itself, featuring some similar stage design concepts.
