More than they've already messed up Fallout? Not sure that's possible.

Did any of you buy something interesting in the ongoing Steam summer sales? Since I now have a lot of free time like many other people, and I will spend most of it at home, I bought several games. I indulged in my metroidvania mania with The Messenger, Successor Of The Moon (Chinese Momodora ripoff) and Superepic, then I bought several arcadey or puzzle games just to keep me occupied and switch the brain off for a while (Juanito Arcade Mayhem, The Herbalist, Riddled Corpses) plus a couple of other random things.

I also bought The Messenger, plus Katana Zero and some obscure RCR spin-off that's probably not very good (something something Kobayashi-san). Then, since I was just a few cents short of triggering the additional 5 or 6$ rebate, I got Way of the Samurai 3 which cost exactly that so it ended up being free. Always meant to try and get into that series.

I have so much to play on my accounts that I don't allow myself to look at the stores anymore.
I'm playing Guacamelee: Super Turbo etc right now. Pretty solid game with a refreshing style though I think the combat would've been more enjoyable if you didn't get knocked down from every hit, and the cooldown between moves was more consistent.
It has really good platforming now that I have the dimension switching and some other moves.

The optional platforming segments get really challenging as you go on. Those were the best part for me so worth doing. I thought the Mexican setting and luchadore theme were a real breath of fresh air.

I finished most of the hell challenges, gonna do the rest today hopefully with one more ability and max stamina. Those were fun overall but also glitchy at times, like in the "enemy waves on a bridge challenge" the game just suddenly gave me a gold medal even though I failed haha.

Well as long as it's a glitch in the right direction. If it had been the other way around it would have been maddening.

It's the Astro City Mini, a desktop-styled arcade cabinet based on the famous Astro City arcade cabinet that comes pre-loaded with 36 SEGA arcade games. Only a handful have been announced so far, but it's a pretty exciting selection for a couple of games in particular:
-Alien Syndrome -Alien Storm -Golden Axe -Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder -Columns II -Dark Edge -Puzzle & Action: Tant-R -Virtua Fighter -Fantasy Zone -Altered Beast
The ones I've boldened are what make this release particularly interesting. Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder and Dark Edge have never been ported or re-released to other systems, while the original Virtua Fighter hasn't seen a port or re-release since the Windows version back in 1996. So this'll be a great chance for people to be able to finally play these games without finagling about with MAME emulation, and I'm super excited to see if they'll put out any other SEGA games that are either obscure or haven't seen much release in years.

Since they have System 32 stuff,I wonder if that means we will see Alien 3:The Gun and Dragon Ball Z:VR V.S.?

Interesting to see that Ys Origin is getting a Switch port. It doesn't seem any different from the computer version so I'm not going to double dip on it unless it's cheap or on sale, but it does make me wonder what Falcom's long term plans are. Ys VIII was more popular on Switch outside of Japan than they expected (maybe the most popular version, but I'm probably misremembering) so now we're getting IX on Switch right away and this port. I wouldn't be surprised if Memories of Celceta was coming too. It would be nice to see some kind of "classic" compilation of I to V although V is the only one to not have some kind of remake or enhanced port.

The Sega arcade collection does looks pretty interesting. Hope it gets released outside Japan. It'll be interesting to see what the other games are and what the external controllers look like. If the controllers are full size, it might be fun to make a little faux cabinet with a small TV. Those tiny built in screens seem like a total gimmick and must just drive the price up. I am a little interested in that SNK one since it seems to go from $50 now.
I would like to see a nice arcade racing collection with a proper wheel and pedals. I don't see a whole lot of value in the standard mini consoles just because there's so many of the games are generally available legally elsewhere. Arcade games are harder to come by legally, and MAME doesn't work quite right with everything. The old JAKKS Pacific Ms. Pac-Man from the first wave of these things 15 years ago is basically the only way you can play something resembling a proper Pole Position!

I don't think Falcom is doing anything to bring games to Switch. They're full on behind Sony. They will allow other publishers to buy the license and bring the games themselves to other platforms though, as is the case for the Ys series as well as Trails of Cold Steel (which is why switch is getting 3 and 4 but not 1 and 2 so far).

!!!! That's so cool!!!! I'm definitely sinking money into that thing. I already have 2 Neo Geo minis, and this just seems like something in a similar vein.

I'm pretty sure they're the ones doing the porting and just don't handle overseas releases themselves which is common. They have said in interviews that sales of Ys VIII on Switch did make them rethink things (again outside of Japan) although I can't find one at the moment. Ys IX getting a simultaneous western release across all platforms is a big sign of that change.
Long term, the constant pushing of the high end is not doing any favors to anyone without gigantic piles of money. Even for the Switch, the desire to have SMT V be full 3D has clearly been causing Atlus problems since there's been barely a peep for 3 and half years apart from assurances that it's still in development. I'm not going to do something like predict some kind of giant realignment, but many publishers were clearly caught flatfooted by the success the Switch especially ones burned by the Wii U. Like with the DS and 3DS during the previous shifts, it's going to be an attractive platform for titles that might not be able to pull the numbers required for a big budget PS5/XBX game. A good example of this is how all the non-Persona SMT games post-PS2 have been on Nintendo platforms along with the more niche Persona Qs.
In Falcom's case, there's only so much greater and greater hardware really helps them for their general graphical style. It's going to be an attractive platform for them since it has been a success so far especially once there's a "Switch 2" that shrinks the "practical" performance gap even if the potential gap gets bigger.
