If Sonic 3 wont' have widescreen, then maybe, the developers of Sonic are big fans of Zack Snyders 4:3 aspect ratio.
regarding the quality of Sonic games: this is just a theory. I guess, it is hard to create a Sonic game, because the developers need to create lots of backround assets, due to the high speed of the game. I guess, it is kinda hard to solve this problem and to juggle these high costs.

Today, I just found out that there will be a Ace Attorney collection about the Meiji era entries. I can't wait for them, because I like the aesthetics and I am still on the fence regarding Earth Defense Force: world brothers. The minecraft visuals are cute, but with the release of EDF 6 on the horizon I am not quite sure, if I need it. Although, it is kinda weird that characters can climb ledges in EDF 6. That is a unique and new feature in the series.
one last not about Dragon Quest X. I have my doubts about a western release. It is related to a joke in the ps2 generation, but chibified games were almost never translated for a certain time, thus it would be funny/interesting, if they break the tradition.

I bought three Switch games that I’m not so sure about... anyone played these? I picked up the Limited Run editions so I might have paid more than they’re worth....
- Battle Princess Madelyn (Heard very mixed things about this. I love G’n G so I thought this might be fun for a while though?)
- Cosmic Star Heroine (Looks great. I love Phantasy Star and Chrono Trigger so I figured this might be for me. I heard it’s pretty short which is actually a positive these days...)
- Gunlord X (Looks like Turrican and I’ve been obsessed with the Turrican Collection lately! I have high expectations for this one)

It does looks nice, and it isn't awful by any means, but I do remember coming away somewhat disappointed.

Cosmic Star Heroine is kinda... meh. It's okay, just don't expect anything special. Neat combat system, way too many characters. They all end up being underdeveloped, the cast should've been cut down to half by combining/cutting them.

From first hand playing the boost era titles, Sega may not be providing the right budgets for fully 3D Sonic games so these games find other ways to cope with it. The 2D segments help Sonic Team cut corners on all this background designing. Forces is full of weak and simplistic levels. They are also much shorter than the average Unleashed to Generation stages. If Sonic Team burned out on designing games from this format, Forces is a wake-up call to try something else. The 4chan descriptions for the latest game is leaving me excited for what they are doing because it doesn't sound like another Sonic Forces by design.

So don't bother with edf world brothers.
It's basically iron rain with voxels
There's something that feels really off about it. The gun feel is not great and despite it being voxel based there just isn't the satisfaction of sheer insanity of the classic edf games.
Also the stereotype characters you collect and at times outright racist with really annoying voice snippets.
Massively disappointed with it.

I have high expectations for this one) Never heard about Gunlord X, but I can tell you something about the other two. I bought Cosmic Star Heroine years ago on Steam and I'm glad that I paid it half-price since it was nothing special, especially since it took the devs 3 years to make it but it doesn't look like it at all. Zeboyd Games were specialized in making simple, short humorous RPGs like Cthulhu Saves the World, they wanted to make an epic one with CSH but the plot is a bunch of sci-fi cliches put together, the characters (as JoeQ said) are bland, underdeveloped and uninteresting more often than not, and the game itself is serviceable but becomes kinda repetitive and tedious halfway through, like they either didn't make it to the deadline or just stopped caring after a while. At least the humor is quite nice so it's a shame that they wanted to follow a more serious and "epic" route.
Battle Princess Madelyn: didn't actually play it but from what I've seen and heard the dev more or less rehashed his old game Insanity's Blade (which was already a throwback to 8 and 16-bit hack n' slash games) with a new coat of paint and much less violence. It also homages Maldita Castilla, but you should just play that one instead since BPM is really forgettable and repetitive, without anything that is really interesting or innovative.

- Gunlord X (Looks like Turrican and I’ve been obsessed with the Turrican Collection lately! I have high expectations for this one) Coincidently, I was playing Gunlord X this weekend. Now, my memories of Turrican are vague, so I may be off base here, but I wouldn't so much say Gunlord is like Turrican but more a straight up clone of it. I'd say it's a good clone though. The level design is sprawling, with nice exploration that rewards with lives and continues; artwork is consistent; boss battles are nicely designed and well drawn. Generally, it just offers a well polished, run and gun/platform experience that feels good to play, and feels wonderfully retro. I think you will have a nice time with it.

Thanks for the information and saving me 60 european dollars. I guess, it would be weird, if they managed to create a thrilling spin off title. The idea sounded to good to be true.
I will invest my money in ghouls and goblins resurrection instead. The highest difficulty will be promising.

So Microsoft is doing various things to celebrate Pride month including selling merchandise ( gear.xbox.com/collections/pride ) and making Tell Me Why available for free. What I find really disappointing though is just how gaudy and horrid their pride designs are. Mostly the controller they unveiled below: There's also this free Forza rainbow livery (OK, I quite like this one... ): Mostly for the merch and the controller though, I have to ask Microsoft - what did we ever do to you? Edit: - The ugly controller is only being given to influencers as a promotional tool. If they're going to do something like this, it needs to be put in the hands of LGBTQ+ people.

Frankly, who needs them anyway: Games are full of beautiful rainbows already. My vote for "most glorious use of rainbows" goes to:
edit: And for some reason Legend of Kyrandia The Hand of Fate comes to mind:

I agree with that. As shameless and transparent as it is a positive message is still spread by their actions. If they really wanted to appeal to the gays with a more genuine product though they could just put out something like this: Now for some rainbows (is the entirety of Legend of Kyrandia that camp? Because if they are I might have to find them): Yes, Katamari has as many rainbows as I could ask for. The King here even has rainbows coming from his mouth. King or Queen I have to ask? You missed the obvious one: And I came up with the disappointingly unlocalised Captain Rainbow:

Funny thing is I never considered The Hand of Fate to be "campy" per se. I just think the rainbow looks pretty . But you're right, it kinda is: Zanthia, the heroine, changes outfits to look good in any scenario (she probably even has some Kylie-esque qualities):
And her love-interest Marco is an over-confident wimp (but still kinda adorable) who needs constant saving, looking like this:
The first Kyrandia game is a okay, but not as memorable (or campy, if you will), nor as polished as Hand of Fate. The third one (Malcolm's Revenge) is pretty interesting, it has a more mischievious vibe (you play as the first game's antagonistic Jester after all), but it might be a bit too ambitious and complicated for its own good. The latter also makes use of preredered models, resulting in a somewhat inconsitent look.
Hand of Fate, on the other hand (hehe), has fantastic pixel art, witty dialogue (even the voice acting is good), a likeable protagonist and reasonable puzzles. It also works well as a standalone story, so I'd probably just stick with that one.
Regarding the King of All Cosmos: He is queen of everything, so she can be whatever his heart desires!!!

Figured I had to put her Kylie-esque qualities to the test. Let's see how she fills her shoes. Yup! I'd say she got it!
