Woody Alien Oddly enough the title sounds pretty similar to former Mother 4 fangame "Oddity" (which is not the greatest name to begin with). They really should come up with something more distinct to avoid confusion with that. (Not to mention the whole Oddworld series...) Many Indie devs in general would benefit from putting more thought into giving their games strong, memorable titles. That would help immensely to stand out, in my humble opinion. The devs mantain that it was a coincidence and that they were not aware of the other game's name change. I believe them, since I don't really see the point in riding the coattails of a game that has been in development hell for so many years and that nobody knows when it will actually come out. Even if they have a common source of inspiration. Even so I totally agree with you, indie devs need to get better at naming their games, since being memorable is everything these days. I had a hard time looking for tips and walkthroughs for "Cathedral" since it has such a generic, vague title. (Oddventure's devs also need to proofread more, since there are several little mistakes in the demo's dialogues) To be clear: I wasn't insinuating that they were copying Oddity. And frankly, Oddity is an even worse name than Oddventure. I always have to look up what was that damn Mother 4 game was called again. For a while it even used to be lableled "Coming Soon", which luckily turned out to be just a working title (imagine typing that into a search engine). Hot take: Unless someone comes up with a really clever use of the adjective "odd", that term should be reserved to the Oddworld games only.
And yes "Cathedral" was not a good naming choice, either. It seems to be a really good game, but not a very popular one. One can only wonder, whether the name is partly to blame for that. It makes you really appreciate how the Shovel Knight designers put a lot of thought into coming up with a distinct signature weapon, which neatly lent itself to a memorable name, too.
To be fair, transitioning from hobbyist to professional game developer is probably not that easy as it sounds. It's possible that they underestimated that.

As someone who does my own hobby work and have tried to push myself to produce something on a more professional level more recently, even though not for the purposes of publishing, I know first hand how difficult it is. Underestimating is common, since every single little thing takes longer than expected. I don't think having the public eye on your project during development is helpful either. I think the best thing for them is to come back and market the game when it is done, should it reach that stage.

May I ask what kind of work you're referring to? Writing perhaps? Or are you taking your craft of tasteful cover art enhancement to the next level?

Game development. Come on windy, you've read my posts. You know I can't write.

Were the N64 Castlevanias retconned before or after Judgement? It was in 2001 along with Circle of the Moon and Legends.

Cruis'n Blast needs to honor the series legacy by ending the game with a Bill Clinton joke.

Game development. Come on windy, you've read my posts. You know I can't write. To someone who's struggling with every single word of English, your posts read like Shakespeare or something.
Anyway, how exciting that you're working on a game, excy...err excelsy... I mean Kylie! I hope you'll let us know when your masterpiece is finished. But hey, no pressure!
edit: Btw, what kind of game are you working on?

Well this was a surprise...
I've never played a Cruis'n game before and I thought this looked pretty fun. I'm not sure what to expect, but I don't have a single racing game on Switch so far and have been looking for one. I wonder if it's worth taking a chance on this. I will warn you, that if you decide to checkout the others, the Wii installment is basically just a re-skinned port of the arcade Fast and the Furious game.

I'm just working on a deck builder these days. I play a lot of board and card games outside of my video game hobby, so I have taken quite a bit of influence from that side of things. If we are both still about in 2030 when I get somewhere with it I will send you a screenshot (I'm afraid I won't be developing it for Watara Supervision however). Hmm...my username isn't very nicknameable is it? That's a shame. I should have come up with something more inventive. And your English writing is excellent btw. lurker - I'll consider myself warned. I didn't even get beyond the first movie of Fast & the Furious...I really hated it. That Cruis'n song from the trailer is threatening to take over my mind and I'm not sure whether it's good, bad, or so bad it's good.

2030 eh? As much as I'm enjoying these conversations, my current plan is to live internet-free by then (I'm telling you: analogue is the new digital, man!). We shall see how that'll actually work out for me, though. But I'd be willing to briefly make a comeback just for that special screenshot.

Got an AV Famicom. It's astonishing how fast these things get here from Japan some times. Too bad the AC adapter I bought from France took long so I couldn't play it for more than two weeks (yes, I'm very impatient). Ah well. I'm running out of space on my NES shelf, so hopefully I won't need a 6th NES/FC.
It also came with Pac-Man and Rockman 5, kind of a random combination. Interestingly, it seems like the later FC Megaman titles are cheaper in Japan than the earlier ones. Pac-Man is pretty nice to have. Can't believe it took me so long to own any version of such a ubiquitous game. It came with a dogbone controller as well. The wire's 2 centimeters, but it's nice to have since my other two dogbone controllers both have broken start and select buttons. And I guess it doesn't hurt to have a 12th NES controller.
Anyway, it works pretty great. The NES-to-FC adapter I got works pretty much as well as you can hope too. I think I might have to replace SMB/DH, but apart from that pretty much everything works perfectly. Maybe I'm crazy or experiencing placebo effect, but I think the output is a bit crisper than my old NES? I think I noticed less distortion from stuff like textboxes. I can't really compare, since the old NES doesn't really work anymore, so let's just say I'm happy with how the games look.

Internet free? Of all the sacrifices you'd be making, the first that comes to mind is - how would you order a pizza??? Seriously, sounds like the modern equivalent of the British sitcom 'The Good Life'. Whatever makes you happy though, windypops, I'm sure you'll have a whale of a time.
