I really want to say that this one is from YU-NO, but I cannot find a screenshot to reference. ...I'm probably wrong.

These are both Spectrum palettes/limitations. I dug through a bunch of spectrum games and images but was unsuccessful at finding them - I don't know if many people here are into ZX's - if we can't work it out someone on a ZX forum could probably tell you. For what it's worth I don't think they're Demoscene images.

YUP. That's the one! Thanks, that dragon was one of the most annoyingly unique looking ones on the whole list, very happy it's finally been found!

Definitely traced from the movie Heavy Metal: Was there a game based on the film? Not to my knowledge. Some of the pictures he gets come from a french Apple II fansite about pirate games and hacks and stuff. A bunch of the images on that site are these green pictures of movie posters and comics and stuff rendered in this green pixel form. Most of the green/black pics on the list are most likely from that site, but it's huge and hard to search through cause of the language, so I haven't searched through it too much. However, as you have pointed out it's from the Heavy Metal poster, I consider this confirmation that it's from that site, so I'm removing it from the list. Thank's for the help. If anyone else wants to have a search through the site, preferably someone with a understanding of french, here's the link.
