Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge (GBA, 2003), after finishing the game during the end credits, you can collect N.Kreditzs coins. When the credits finish load your game again and go to Spillers Harbor, somewhere in that level there is an arcade machine. You can use the N.Kreditzs there to play mini-games that you finished already. See video here Last but not leastly (and my favorite), Jet Force Gemini features a slot car racing minigame inside a hidden discotheque on planet Ichor---you can get inside and enjoy the whole place by disguising yourself as one of Mizar's drones. Apparently even fascist space ants get bored---who knew? Noooo! Why do you have to do that to me, Rare? Why do you hide arcade machines in all those of your games that I hate? It was painful enough to play halfway through Donkey Kong 64...

I'm not sure which thread we're using for this now, but Legend of Legaia has the playable 'Baka Fighter' arcade machine in Sol Tower's Muscle Dome. The name doesn't lie: It's an extremely cheesy rock-paper-scissors fighter using palette swaps of the main characters.

I'm going with a slightly more obscure one. G-Coliseum in Zwei! 2 (PC) has the boss rush room. Little late to the party, but I wanted to pop my head in and note that Zwei 1 has an arcade as well -- it's where you play the "Zwei!! Shooting" minigame, which is depicted in-game as an actual arcade cabinet. The PS2 version of Zwei!! takes this even farther, also featuring the Mona Mona puzzle minigame as another arcade cabinet -- you just have to find the arcade board for it before you're able to play it. (In the PC version of Zwei!!, Mona Mona is a separate desktop app, and in the PSP version, it's just plain not there.) ...Also, this one is kind of obvious and probably HAS been mentioned, but I didn't see it in a cursory glance through the topic, so I figure I'll throw it out there: Legend of the Mystical Ninja, anyone? -Tom

If I download a save from near the end of the game, is it easy/fast to travel back to that part? I vaguely recall trying to get those optional items before taking on the final boss, and it appears gamefaqs.com confirms this (search "Side-Quests: Last"), so I think your save should work! Here's someone's "Let's Play," just in case you were curious before putting in the effort:

Not sure if you want to count this one but.. playing Donkey Kong (GameBoy, 1994) on the SNES via the Super Game Boy puts a border around the game making it look like an arcade machine. See screenshots on Mobygames

I remember that there wasn't much arcade cabinets in Amiga games, but here's few examples I remember: Core Design got adventure game "Universe" at one point You can go to small bar and play Space Invaders clone on arcade cabinet youtu.be/o9qjg9oarMY?t=36m33sThere was also nice logic game Vital Light youtu.be/s5Cyyx-DG1c?t=1m41s about playing arcade game I'm not sure about Immposible Mission 2025 youtu.be/0neyGNqXK6Y?t=1m56s on levels You can find different terimnals (they look like computers not aracdes), two of them allow to play simple shmup and repeat game, win them and get extra items In Gloom You can find simple and playable Defender game, win it and get extra lives youtu.be/BELCO16pwNM?t=11m59sIn Wing Commander there is also arcade cabinet in cantin.

Catherine has an arcade machine called Rapunzel in the Stray Sheep; its gameplay is remarkably similar to the main puzzles, though limited by number of moves instead of by time. I thought that was rather cool. Obviously the game was more advanced than anything from the era, but the art design and colors were dead-on for a lot of early 80's arcade games (especially the cabinet art). I thought that was a really cool detail - one of my fond memories from childhood was going to "bar restaurants" because more often than not they'd have at least one arcade machine and my folks would give me change to play until the food was ready.

Someone mentioned GTA series before. I remember GTA: San Andreas had four machines you could find and play; Duality, Go Go Space Monkey, Let's Get Ready to Bumble, and They Crawled From Uranus. GTA San Andreas has the most, but every GTA game contain one or more playable arcade games. See full descriptions here, and as an example here's a video of Let's Get Ready to BumbleDammit, I just wanted help with something, not MORE work! (Just kidding, the more the better. Keep 'em coming!) Also, what are some video games with game consoles within the game world? Playable or otherwise. So far I've got Ganbare Goemon 2, Gokinjo Boukentai, Star Parodier, Banjo-Kazooie, Blue Stinger (which also has an arcade), Shenmue, Illbleed, GTA San Andreas, Saints Row 2 and Venus Hostage. Lollypop (Amiga/Pc, 1994) has one of those old LCD game as a bonus mini-game.

I wrote a graphical text adventure called Fallacy of Dawn that starts in an arcade. The player character is the guy working the change machine as the game begins. I implemented a few different games, and a Crystal Castles cocktail cab is integral to the first puzzle. (I own a CC cocktail in real life, which inspired it, ha.) Here's a screen:

One of Liu Kang's fatalities is Arcade Drop, where he kills someone by dropping an arcade machine on them. mortalkombat.wikia.com/wiki/Liu_KangHe had it in MK3 and according to the wiki, he had it in MK vs DC too. Btw Mortal Komat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Komat 3 have a hidden Galaga-type mini game, which can be accessed through a Kombat Kode. During the "vs" screen below each character there are 3 symbols and the players can cycle through the symbols to combine codes, using Low-Punch, Block, Low-Kick. MK3 Galaga mini-game code: 6-4-2 - 4-6-8 which will show (Goro)-(?)-(MK) - (?)-(Goro)-(Shao Kahn)

Doom 3 has a dumb arcade cabinet. The game logo styling clearly inspired by Street Fighter Zero 3 too. And here's a YouTube video of the game in action:

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel: you stumble upon two identical stand-up arcade cabinets of a made-up game (Bagdad exploder if memory serves) but you can't play them, and they are not even ON, so no display on the screen, it's just those two cabinets standing in a corridor.
If you want to use it, I can check in which mission they are - the game lets you skip to any mission once you've ended it, like all modern action games...
