Just another non-content game to be consumed by the masses. It's simple and cheap (in content), which is what people want. Just another hysteria to ignore. I'm not sure "non-content" is a proper description. The series has an interesting mythology to it, legit challenge, and extra modes for added levels with new patterns to them, plus extra stuff and hidden endings found by completing those major challenges. For games made in such a short amount of time, that's pretty impressive (especially for one guy). I don't really like the series (not a fan of its weird gameplay style), but I wouldn't really call it bad. The second game did build on the basics of the first one and improved it, which is surprising considering the short development time. The guy making it gets how to make the most out of a few assets, and the success he's getting is earned. People are liking the game because of a lot of real positive factors in the games and not just because of the initial LP popularity (which doesn't always work that well, if you look at numbers). While three games so fast is definitely excessive, they're five dollar horror games with a somewhat episodic structure and simple mechanics that don't take much effort to get working. If they were ten bucks, I would call this ridiculous and suggest a full sized game at around twenty, but as it is here, I think the guy is onto something and wants to honestly do the most he can with it. That's awesome. Hopefully the third game doesn't fuck things up and force me to put my foot in my mouth.

p.s.: "FNAF", lol, sounds like someone sneezing: - I played FNAF! - Gesundheit Nothing tops when people are talking about The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky and use the acronym "TitS" completely seriously. I always take tits seriously. ... Sorry, I'll show myself out.

I know I'm in the *internet* minority on this but yeah, the second one is bad. Instead of building on the atmosphere and ambient horror it trebles the amount of jump scares and forcibly reduces the gameplay to a laborious repetitive 3 mouse movements and two left clicks while hammering the crtl key. Also the way the Freddy head is worn/pulling up the camera is clunky.

It's honestly a little off-putting. I still haven't even gotten around to playing the first one. I want to play games that actually have some passion behind them, not stuff that comes off like it was only thrown together to strike while the iron is hot and make as much money as possible. I've always found the hype machine unappealing, and between these sequels being cranked out and the fact that the series has basically been turned into a meme, it's kind of turning me off to playing at all. Which is really unfortunate because I love animatronics and was so down with the concept. I'll still play because I already bought it but ehhh. My thoughts exactly. The first game is still quite good and memorable on it's own, but I felt that the second one was ruined by stuff like the music box, the lack of doors and some hints of unbalance. Since then, I find it more fun to watch Markiplier playing the game than bringing myself to actually play it. For what it's worth though, the series has a very interesting lore.

Is there really actual lore to this series or is it just something the internet and Game Theory made up? Mind you my only knowledge with the series is with first few days of the first game.

Yeah, the creator confirmed some of it. It's told sort of like lore in Dark Souls is told, shown in the background and left for players to piece together. Just, you know, about killer animal mascot robots.

I want to accuse him of the old "Yeah, that's what I meant to do all along, good catch, I really packed sooooo much lore in this game". But really he kind of did. That's kind of what I enjoy about it. Those Game Theorists I feel are making up dots to connect, because I think well horror is scarier if you have gaps al over the place. So it works better if you just take the little notes at face value, and the guy on the phone too as just proof of what these robots are capable of. You could infer they're possessed, but who really wants an answer to a question in horror. Ruins the point.

It's not quite lore, but the underlying theme of what I'd call "corporate horror" is pretty nifty and quite timely in these days of "the economy sucks, no jobs, etc." The absurdity of willingly fending off monsters for 120 $ a week is priceless. You also get something like fifty cents of "overtime" for surviving the optional challenge day.
Almost all phone messages are beautiful pieces of corporate doublespeak, false enthusiasm and desperate minimization ("the bite of '87", lol).

I thought it was cool when there was something weird about the animatronics. The lore is an interesting side effect but since I've not played the second one I'm not sure if he "kept adding" or if he just added more hints for people to make shit up.

Those phone calls were some of my favorite bits. And the paycheck. I just kind of wish people didn't cling to it so hard for the theories. Because I always took the approach of like you said, economy sucks, let's risk our life for peanuts.

Guess its one more time before moving on to making that movie. At least there's longer development time for this.

I love how the subtitle for this one is THE FINAL CHAPTER, when we all know there will be at least five more games after this one. :p

Well, as always I continue to hope he remakes number 2 as well. Since 3 was actually pretty good we'll see how number 4 goes. I appreciate that gaming now has a ridiculous multipart horror franchise.

So, that WB has gotten the rights to make a movie is true? The concept could honestly work if made well.
Only recently I realized the author of the series is Scott Cawthon. At the time when Multimedia Fusion was more popular, his games stood out for the high quality 3D modeling, he was pretty good years ago already.
