Well, seeing Bokosuka Wars at #2 put me in a good mood. I don't know what makes it happen, but whenever it does happen that your brain realizes that the term "politically correct" stems from an intentional effort to cast the notion of "don't be a jerk" in a negative light, you will be a happier person. That said, I don't understand why anyone would read any text on Tumblr, 4Chan, etc. in the first place. If you use terms like "ableist" in a non-ironic way then you should probably get your head out of your ass is all I'm saying. And as far as "don't be a jerk," yeah it's a great policy I agree - but the road runs both ways, and only the traffic on one side's getting pulled over.

What an ableist post. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I still can't believe Time had that vote of words that should be banned and neither ableist nor whilst were on it. I really am on the internet way too much.

I won't go into details, but I've noticed a rise in racist comments on 4chan boards as of late, along with people trying to use racist memes from the site to make political points. Dead serious, I've seen so many offensive "greedy jew" image edits and people use them with no sense of irony to demonize someone as a racist stereotype, then expect to be taken seriously. The line between troll and ignorant idiot has been blurred horribly. Details aren't really needed. That line between "really" and just trying to get a rise out of someone has always been a cover for hostile people to get off the hook in any form of interaction online or not. There are plenty of people who were "jokingly" racist and sexist all the time through their young adulthood, guess what they're like now? It's easy when you're living in a mental bubble be that caused by physically living in some hyper-ignorant society or from most of your social interaction being a meme echo chamber on the internet. This is true, but I've noticed this has reached the point where normally sane people are falling into this influence. I've burned a few bridges over supposed friends and acquaintances believing anonymous posters on an image board more than people with actual facts or victims of rampant harassment. I've reached the conclusion that some people (mainly anyone who has a bit of a victim complex and aren't aware of it) need to stop using sites like 4chan or Reddit, because there's a good chance they're mailable enough to become terrible people and not realize it.

When I look back on interactions with people I used to hang out with that "became" terrible from these things, I realize they were terrible people all along. If the didn't focus that onto #rapingwomen on Reddit or become active members of Stormfront they'd behave the same way somewhere else online.

I'm a little bugged that I was so close to becoming that a few years ago, but I ended up hearing more about Feminism in Twitter circles and started researching minority movements more. I started to understand people outside my worldview more and I feel like a better person for it.

Stormfront cartoons are hilarious though because there's people out there that actually take them seriously. Reddit is unilaterally awful though. For example, literally everyone evil past or present on this board uses Reddit.

In my experience, "SJWs" are a very minor majority that, usually at worst, post stupid things. There's several who harass, but I've seen far more from groups on the other side, especially MRAs. Really, sites like Reddit and Tumblr need to better police themselves. I'm amazed by the Reddit groups they leave up there. In my case I tend to notice the worst of the "neo hippies" on twitter on account of the game/comic writers, journalists, I follow retweeting them (or being them). Anyhow I've been working on being more understanding lately, hopefully this keeps. EDIT: Also it's cool, I just deleted it because I realized I was basically derailing the thread like I tend to do (another bad habit of mine) - no offense intended or anything.

Why do you follow that which you despise?
Don't worry this flew off the rails long ago. If only we had a better train culture here to stay on track with.
So, pornographic video games. It is a true story that right after Rapelay was pulled from Amazon, I was unlocking the gate at my GameStop at 6AM (I had to prep for an inventory). This was in a cold November several years ago, it was twenty degrees out, normally bustling Kings Highway was a ghost town. A disheveled dude in a trench coat approached me. Was this dude gonna go for my bank deposit? Was he angry about some past transaction gone wrong? No, he was waiting around to that he could ask me if we carried Rapelay.

Wasn't that like a PC game? Why would Gamestop even carry that.

That, and the fact that you're only a bigot or a hatemonger if you're a white American male. Otherwise you're free to hate and discriminate all you want. See that I hate too. I guess I'm a hippy - I don't understand why people can't just leave each other alone.

GameStop at least used to carry PC games, and still does if they're big releases like WoW or something. I don't think a Japanese-only literal rape simulator, however, is the sort of thing they're likely to have available. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) -Tom
