Wild ARMs- Not sure what I like about this one. Just cool. And how they keep trying to tie something in the game back to it. I always preferred to spell it Wild Arms, myself, without the acronymish title. Looks better aesthetically to me, plus I find the alternate to be sort of pointless.

Oddly I don't have much to say to that. That is like super my opinion. I just like ARMs. Kind of reinforces the sci-fi bent some of the games have.

To each their own. I just feel Wild Arms looks better and seems more natural for me.

I will say, I kind of love the cheesy subtitles on all of the Wild Arms games in Japan. Especially Wild Arms: The Vth Vanguard. That is like, the stupidest name ever, but I still absolutely adore it. -Tom

I didn't know that any of them besides the 2nd game did that actually. That kind of made my evening.

Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury are excellent calls. So is Castlevania, Doom and Silent Hill.
I vote for DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest. It's such a clever subtitle and a fun play on words.
Mortal Kombat is pretty epic, too. It just fits. Primal Rage is also a good one. I also have to nominate Wolfenstein 3D. It just sounds bad-ass. And I'm rather impartial to a silly-ish title such as Rocky Rodent. Right away you know it's a mascot me too sort of game from the early-mid '90s. Rocky Rodent, heh. Good times.
NBA Jam. Barkley: Shut Up and Jam! is one of the better titles out there sporting (pardon the pun) an attitude.
And how about HEY PUNK! R U TUFF ENUFF? (lol)
Finally, you can't go wrong with Bomberman. Timeless title for a timeless game.

I vote for DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest. It's such a clever subtitle and a fun play on words. OH! That reminds me of another favorite game title: - Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story I always thought that was like, the cleverest title ever. Mad props to Nintendo for that one, as there really isn't a more perfect choice for the game than that. A few from the XSEED/Marvelous library, too: - Half-Minute Hero (and its sequel, "The Second Coming") Just a nice play on words with a coy sense of humor that fits the game really well. And the sequel, "The SECOND Coming," is just the icing on the cake! - Akiba's Trip Not so much the "Undead & Undressed" subtitle (I do quite like it, but it gave some people the wrong impression of the game, so I can't really say it's a perfect fit; I still think we should've gone with my initial subtitle suggestion, "Nosferotaku"!), but I like the base name "Akiba's Trip" a lot because of how it's stylized to look like "Akiba Strip," highlighting the stripping-centric gameplay while still technically just being a slightly Engrish-ized way to say "a trip through Akiba." - Riz-Zoawd This one falls into the "so stupid it's awesome" category, since it's an anagram for "Wizard Oz" but ultimately just sounds like Snoop Dog telling you to "go down the yellow brick riz-zoawd, yo!" I still lament that this title was changed for the North American release, as I really like the awful awesomeness of the original -- though I do fully understand why it was changed! -Tom

I like the name Chibi-Robo. It is fun to say. As for subtitles, I like Rondo of Blood (or Chi no Rondo). Not only does it sound awesome, it also ties well into the theme of Castlevania lore.

I've got a fondness for Breath of Fire. The more I thought of it the more I found it to be a cool way to refer to dragons. It's kinda poetic sounding, I guess?

I've never played it, but I always liked the title Beyond the Beyond. Wizardry, while a cool name in itself, has some really great subtitles; Heart of the Maelstrom, Bane of the Cosmic Forge, Knight of Diamonds. It's practically the discography for an '80s metal band.
It's been mentioned, but I really enjoy the Castlevania subtitles. Rondo of Blood is pretty great, and I'm fond of Symphony of the Night and Harmony of Dissonance.

The King of Fighters (sounds even better when you say it like the Japanese do: DA KEENG OV FIGHTERS!)
Red Dead Redemption -- Rolls well off the tongue, best when said with a Clint Eastwood voice)
Streets of Rage -- A title that sums up 80s pop culture quite well
Radiant Silvergun -- I just like it
Plok -- It's a sound effect
Valis -- I think emphasizing the letter V is best for hack and slash games.

"Shinobi". The name sounds cool; when it appeared, no-one really knew what it really meant, but everybody knew it had a mysterious link with ninjas - and ninjas are supposed to be mysterious, right? And the Kanji (The symbol) is just too cool, all in red like that. So cool, that even the name "The Super Shinobi" had some dignity to it... not an easy task. Maybe my most iconic Mega Drive cover. It's with this game that the MD gained my eternal love. Boy, what a game. The real Castlevania of the MD. And Yuzo Koshiro's music. Maaaan... It was a perfect game for me. That white-clad shinobi just had the look. (Yeah, I know, if he's in white in the game, he should not be in black on the cover, but... Listen, just be cool, Okay?)

"Shinobi". The name sounds cool; when it appeared, no-one really knew what it really meant, but everybody knew it had a mysterious link with ninjas - and ninjas are supposed to be mysterious, right? I also appreciate the name "Shinobi," if only because it helped put the word "shinobi" into the public consciousness. The word "shinobi" and the word "ninja" are actually pretty much the same thing -- "ninja" is just more formal. Basically, the word "ninja," written out in Japanese, is just the "shinobi" kanji followed by the kanji for "person." Since they're more or less exactly the same word at their core, you'll hear the more casual word "shinobi" a lot more in common Japanese speech. Though not a perfect comparison, "ninja" is like calling someone a "fire fighter," whereas "shinobi" is like calling someone a "fireman." It may not be as "elegant" a term, but it's definitely the one you hear most in common parlance. -Tom
