I heard the name ProJared but have never watched any if his videos.
These last several months have been pretty bad for Youtube, between Two Best Friends dissolving and many Youtubers I follow slowing to down to only one video once in a blue moon for 2019, way slower than they used to output, I don't know what's going on.

There's a niche for everything.
The whole thing with 'net celeb/viral celebs reminds me of the character, Garou from One Punch Man. He's the anti-hero, hero hunter who thought it was unfair that the bad guys would always lose and heroes would always win. So you can imagine, for our world population of Billions of people, maybe a guy like that would have 50,000 kindred spirits that felt the same way. And then maybe they found that person charismatic enough to be willing to donate actual cash money to his cause.
Certainly there is something attractive of skirting the usual structure of go to school, follow the rules, get good grades, get a job, etc. And certainly there is a fine line of disillusioned teenagers and young adults who believe they can create a better existing system of social, cultural, and economic rules than the ones put in place by long dead generations of centuries ago.

I used to follow Jared's videos, even though he always had a sanctimoniousness to his opinions. Turns out that was the least of his character defects...
Good riddance to bad eggs.

And then maybe they found that person charismatic enough to be willing to donate actual cash money to his cause. Maybe I'm too old-fashioned, just plain old, dead inside or what have you, but I really can't grasp the popularity of these people. Following the links from the link about ProJared that X-Pert posted a few posts ago, I found these articles:
It may be sensationalism, but still, I think society is giving these people way too much power. I know that celebrity worship has always existed, but at least back in the day celebrities mostly worked hard to get where they are; these internet celebrities are just random people like me and you who are idolized and paid shitload of money just for playing games (not even at a pro level most of the time) and faking interest toward random strangers that vaguely interact with them, but they don't know and don't care about. I know that they get angry whenever they get compared to camwhores, and I can somewhat see why, but let's be honest: they're often being paid by young kids and lonely people to let them believe they're their special friends they can play with whenever. I find it kinda sad to be honest, since if these people are into games, I can't understand why they can't just go to a friend's/internet cafe/convention and actually play with others instead of watching some dude/girl who will never care about you.
Or maybe I'm just a bitter and grumpy man that can't accept that things change and they have done so since a long time... however to be honest I always kinda despised youtubers and similar people, from Smosh to Italian examples that I won't reference here since obviously nobody here could know about them. The only one I liked was the AVGN, and even then I stopped caring about him long since.

I hate it when this happens... So I'm pretty sure it was somewhere on this board where there was a discussion of creepy cartoons, and there was this one exceptional clip where some big skull-faced bad guy transforms one of the good guys (while the others watch) into a demon. Obviously my recollections are fuzzy. I'm pretty sure it was some 80's cartoon – probably not Visionaries, but something from that timeframe. I found this old thread, but it's not there. Ring any bells?

Oh bless you, sir. I was banging on the Googles left and right and getting nowhere and it was quite infuriating – possibly because the toy line was cancelled. 'Twas in the Underappreciated Cartoons thread.

The record warmest day in history in the Netherlands has been broken two days in a row, and the 40 degrees barrier has been crossed for the first time today, so that's just great news. The summer months are just going to be torture from now on.

The summer months are just going to be torture from now on. I hear ya, Sweden is right behind you albeit sliiightly cooler (36-ish today. It was definitely worse last summer. Like, India called and wanted its weather back tbh). My tiny studio appartment is an absolute sauna. The nights are especially horrible.

I'm quite lucky. I live in a flat that's build half way into the hill and borders on the basement. And this week was the second of my vacation. So I could just stay inside all day soaking in the moderate temperatues in here while everyone's trying to not die to the 30-40° outside

Heat and humidity here in Los Angeles has been pretty mild compared to last year. There's only been a handful of 100'F/38'C days in July. We'll be looking at 95'F/35'C in the valleys and 85'F/29.5'C for downtown LA.
