As of this writing, Cold Steel II is not out yet. XSEED's official website for the game just launched, and I figured I'd make a separate thread for this, so that people who haven't finished the first Cold Steel yet can have that particular thread for themselves, while all Cold Steel II talk gets consolidated here. Needless to say, if you haven't finished the first Trails of Cold Steel, it would probably be a wise decision to avoid this thread. So... Trails of Cold Steel II websiteAmidst other promotional materials (most of which I shall be avoiding), XSEED has released text-based English translations of the Trails of Cold Steel drama CDs! They can be seen here - www.trailsofcoldsteel.com/cs2/memoirs1.html - I haven't read them yet, but they seem to cover that part of the first Cold Steel that happened between Chapter 6 and Chapter 7, which was just mentioned at the beginning of Chapter 7 and then brushed aside. This drama CD goes back and actually shows what happened in said scene. So, I definitely look forward to reading through this sometime sooner than later!

About how much does this series have in common with TitS, for the uninitiated? This blog post goes into detail about how each game in the series relates to one another, while being spoiler-free - blog.us.playstation.com/2015/12/22/the-legend-of-heroes-trails-of-cold-steel-out-today-on-ps3-ps-vita/ - Basically, Trails in the Sky is the Liberl Arc (the first one), then after that is the Crossbell arc (Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki, which are currently unlocalized), and then after that is the Erebonia Arc (Trails of Cold Steel, which takes place at the same time period concurrently with the Crossbell arc). You can start from the beginning of any particular arc and have a good time, but playing the games within a particular arc out of order is not a good idea. Have you played Trails in the Sky? If not, I recommend it because I loooooooooooooooooooooove Trails in the Sky. Trails in the Sky FC and SC collectively are just about one of my favorite games ever. They can take awhile to get going, but I ended up loving the experience tremendously.

You did, after all, once go by "Estelle Bright's Frowny Face", lel ^_^ So yeah, if you get the chance, I recommend checking out the Cold Steel games too. I think they're pretty cool, and it's nice to get to see more of the continent of Zemuria.

Trails of Cold Steel II came out in the US yesterday. I got my pre-ordered copy, and have completed the Prologue. SPOILERS for PrologueThey're really laying it on thick, here. (granted, a lot of that is Alfin teasing Elise) Aside from that stuffs, the stakes feel very high right now in the story. It was a pretty "holy shit" moment to see Rean and Elise's parents seemingly dead at the hands of jaegers, and to have Rean go Super Saiyan again. I had to go after saving my game at the end of the prologue, but I wonder just what's going to happen at this point, now that Alfin and Elise have both been kidnapped by Vita. It feels like virtually every single bad guy group possible is allied with the Noble Alliance, for whatever reason. It's like a bunch of assorted supervillains with different powers and skills, all in favor of continuing noble supremacy. It seems a little unbelievable to me right now, but I guess I'll see how that gets explained/clarified in the future. Gameplay-wise, things feel pretty much exactly the same as in the first Cold Steel. For some reason, Rean's voice clip during his Azure Flames s-craft seems to have the first second or so missing. I guess that's because of technical/localization-related constraints. I miss hearing him say " AZURE FLAMES - GATHER ROUND MY BLADE". The second fight against the Magic Knight (when you have Elise and Toval with you) was really hard! It kinda reminded me of fighting a certain super-tough boss in Trails in the Sky FC. The fact the Magic Armor can heal itself fairly regularly (and for such high amounts of health) is pretty shitty, but I managed to overwhelm it thanks to using practically every health items at my disposal, using Rean's Motivate craft, and having the characters time their S-crafts for when they either could get a critical, for when they had 200 CP stored, or when they had extra strength from Motivate going on.

I'll be picking this up but considering I'm only in chapter 3 of TiTS after months playing it and my game playing time has been reduced a whole lot due to starting work on my own game it might be a while before I get around to it.
Will definitely pick it up to support XSeed. <3 them

I picked it up yesterday. Only got 3 piddly items for carrying over my TOCS1 save game. Hopefully some of the bonding stuff I did in 1 carries over like it says in some of the advertising for the game. LAURA! I'm coming back to you, baby.
Hopefully TOSC 2 at least stops at a reasonably satisfactory point in the story. I might not be able to take another cliffhanger like TOSC 1's. I probably won't be able to play TOSC 3 for a numbers of years after it's released (unless I suddenly get richer within the next 2 years where I can afford a better PC or a PS4) Hopefully Falcom changes its mind about abandoning the PS3 and Vita, it would be nice to carry over the save game. While it would be a pain for me to transfer my save game to the Vita and then to the PS4, it's at least better than nothing.

I wasn't able to play for as long today, but I am somewhere in the middle of Act I. I finished exploring Celdic, and the newspaper boy gave me an issue of the Imperial Chronicle, which had a hand-made map attached to the last page. I still haven't found any of my Class VII classmates, but I have a feeling I'll come across some of them soon.

I just find this incredibly amusing. I'm still in Act I at the moment, at the third part of the act, I believe... I got to Legram, and recruited Laura and Emma back into my party. Now I need to walk on foot to Bareahard to retrieve Jusis. Since Bareahard is one of the Noble Alliance's strongholds, I don't expect this to be easy. Hopefully this goes okay!

I'll eventually get around to it, I need to get back to Sen 1 at some point; but I'm weighed down with an FF6 playthrough at the moment.

In Act I, Part 3 - I'm in Bareahard right now, and have learned that Jusis is apparently helping run Bareahard itself, while his brother and father focus their efforts on helping the Noble Alliance to win. I have Machias in my party, and I'm really looking forward to seeing Machias and Jusis meet each other again, lol. Should be fun! ^_^

Finally started playing this seriously. Have about 25 hours on the game and just hit Chapter 2. Which is where the story finally looks to pick up some speed. Chapter 1 SpoilersSo Chapter 1. That was way too long right? And every time you find another member of class VII the re-introductions get more and more sappy. I couldn't listen to most of Laura and Emma's. And everyone seems way too chill with the war going on. The Prologue starts on a high note and then all that tempo is lost as you re-collect your classmates for 20+ hours. That is some bad pacing. Don't get me wrong I am enjoying the game. The world building and lore are really good. I just wish Class VII was. It feels like all of their problems were solved last game and every time they speak it reads like some Saturday morning cartoon. Very cheesy. Some conflict would be nice. And just a hint of urgency. Ah well. That's not Legend of Heroes style I suppose. More Chapter 1 SpoilersJusis' family issues are pretty interesting. Hopefully that is leveraged some more later on. It was a little hard to be motivated to play this one knowing there is a part III later on. Which if we do get won't be for 2 years at least.
