The good news: Game by ArcSys, gameplay looks pretty great, seems to feature a nice variety of levels, not just the ones from DD1 recycled.
The bad news: 8 bit graphics. Yeah, the NES games were the most popular in the series, but beat 'em ups were always a genre that was home to the arcades, and there, it pretty much always had 16 bit style graphics. This seems rather lazy.

Not gonna lie, the fact that this isn't a Neon sequel kinda hurts. I mean, I do actually like DD2 NES a lot, far more than the arcade version, so I do have a small interest in this, but... man, Neon was just too good for this world.

A new Neon would be nice , but I like this. The 8-bit sprites seem a bit out of place with those better drawn female ninjas sprinting around though. Is Super Double Dragon and Double Dragon V wiped from canon at this point now?

I can understand keeping it with pixelated old-school graphics. Quicker production time, less development costs. The combos hinted at in the demo look boss. But this being ArcSys, I would've hoped for some 2-D hand drawn goodness a la Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.

I'm really disappointed in this being 8bit/NES style, it seems really freaking lazy.
IMO, Arcade style graphics are what you need to use for nostalgic Double Dragon, THAT is the iconic look for Double Dragon.
I may get this, but it'd want to be cheap, trying to charge full price with NES style sprites would just be sickening, IMHO.

I'm kind of annoyed with the idea of "Double Dragon 2 with Juggle Mechanics", as opposed to something more like the GBA game...

I'm excited. Double Dragon II is one of my favorite games, so getting a new Double Dragon in that style is very cool. Plus, I guess I'm in the minority here, but I didn't really enjoy Neon that much.

Marion dies in Double Dragon 2 (the Arcade version at least), is back in the Japanese version of part 3, and a police officer in Return. So... yeah. Part 5 takes places in the cartoon universe. There's hardly one canonical story for DD. And yeah, ArcSys 2D goodness would have been incredible. Oh well, maybe they're testing the waters. Better to do it this way than by releasing another collection.

Neon was a decent game. Although, the whole '80s gnarly radical dudes with 'tude motif was a bit overtop.

I never liked how the NES games looked, and strangely ArcSys seems to kind of agree, since all new graphics are in a different style - or different styles, rather, since it kinda looks like jumbled together from different games.

I admit, I got a kick out of seeing the DD2 sprites in Neon, but I don't really think they should have recycled that many sprites in a new game. If it was 16-bit I could understand it, but NES sprites are alot easier to draw. Would have been nice if it was all new graphics that was still 8-bit. I do look forward to it tho. If I had a PS4 still I would def consider getting it.

I guess by calling it IV they wanted to establish it as a quasi-sequel to the NES titles - which is also what the teaser trailer attempts to do (certainly not in the most elegant way).
Even though I'm not a Double Dragon fan, I would have preferred graphics in style of the first two arcade games. But going the way of Mega Man 9 seems equally valid to me. I guess there are many who grew up playing the NES games and nostalgia is probably the biggest selling point for this.
Calling the game "cheap" already, just because of the 8 bit style might be a little premature. There is barely any gameplay to judge from. So far it looks fine to me, actually. And making a game look good in an 8 bit-style is not necessarily much easier than going for a 16 bit aesthetic (unless we're talking Neo Geo games with tons of animation frames etc.). There is a reason why you rarely find people calling Shovel Knight or Odallus "cheap" looking.
However, it's the teaser trailer itself which looks cheap to me: The editing is mediocre at best an as unoriginal as it can get. And the effects and filters, used in the editing process to make the thing look "flashier", feel distracting and akward to me. And like I wrote earlier: there is hardly any footage from the new title (half of it is from the NES games).

Is it just me or is this a single plane game? Even in the few levels where there seems to be space, you don't see anyone moving north or south or even standing anywhere besides right in front or behind the players. I cannot overemphasize how much this sucks. Freedom of movement is essential to a decent beat 'em up. Also, yeah, where's the love for Super Double Dragon? A 16-bit graphical style (or better yet, arcade-style, as someone brought up) would have been much more satisfying.
