Is Power Rangers another meme one or is it actually a good soundtrack? I used to have that game as a kid and I don't remember the soundtrack at all.

While it doesn't ooze "passsion project" like some of Natsume's finest, it's still a decent game, including its soundtrack. It's no Wild Guns nor Ninja Warriors Again, but it does sound somewhat similar:
That said, I suspect the popularity of the show (read: nostalgia*) and the fact that they managed to recreate the show's theme in recognisable form, including singing voice samples, does play a huge part here: *Though I wouldn't know it as I never liked the show. For me it's the Natsume feel that sells it.

Being based on the show I guess it's partly nostalgia for that too, yeah. I was getting a bit too old for it at the time (well, I also hated real life people in rubber suits or stuff like Thunderbird even as a kid) but I recall it being popular. I think the OSTs are pretty good; cheesy of course but they're well made for what they are. If you like the PR: The Movie one for MD, then Battle Mania 2 and Cosmic Carnage are similar in style. vgmrips.net/packs/search?q=Hikoshi+Hashimoto

PR: The Movie (MD) does indeed feature some neat synth guitars.

I was never a fan of Power Rangers either. I thought it was cheesy, and it more or less replaced my beloved Ninja Turtles as the premiere kids franchise. To be honest, I probably appreciate goofy tokusatsu stuff as an adult more than I ever did as a kid.
That being said, the full version of the MMPR theme kinda shreds.
The game soundtracks are pretty good, at least the SNES ones.

Haha right, it felt like the next generational step from TMNT, GI Joe, Transformers and MASK and I wasn't on board.

Fortunately Ben Daglish has us covered there I'm not even convinced G.I. Joe was on in the UK. I only knew it as a toy brand growing up and was unaware of the show and games.

Nice! No I don't think GI Joe aired in sweden either, I have vague memories of a movie I wanted to see and saw some ad for via cable tv but I think my parents thought it was too violent.
We were able to rent tapes of stuff like Macross and Cobra around that time too, I don't think they would've approved of Cobra if they had bothered checking it out.
