At the risk of sounding lame, is anybody excited about the New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out soon? It looks pretty nice and I loved the older movies. It's been in the making for a while and the final/near final product looks MUCH better.
What do you guys think about this?

I can't wait for the movie. It looks like they did a really good job setting the tone as it isn't really goofy. The turtles actually behave like ninjas!!!! I have to see it and 300 as soon as I can. Also, the Ubisoft game for TMNT looks amazing. It's made by the Prince of Persia team so I have faith that it will be great! Hey VtD, wanna have a Vyse party and go see it?

Somehow TMHT doesn't look all that good to me, though Transformers looks like it'd be a pretty fun movie to watch.

I think they'll both be fun..counting that they focus on the characters and not the CGI.

Don't remind me, I've still got scars from watching Hulk. That movie had absolutely zero plot.

I'm a Hulk fan because of the plot...... CGI is overrated anyways, give me back the pg-13 rated animatronics of the old ones.

The original comics had a great plot, but the movie butchered it so badly, especially since 90% of the movie was just Hulk going on a single rampage.

Huh? the reason I loved it was that it adopted both the comicbook look and the stories theme of damaged childhood and rage issues. I was even pleasantly surprised over how little it focused on dumb action. It's my favorite Marvel movie in fact, and I hated how it was bashed for the "lack of action" and "fake CGI" by people that totally missed the point of the movie imo.

To each his own I guess, that movie told me nothing and showed me nothing.

Are you in VA vtb? I don't go to the movies too often, but I think I'm going to make a big exception for the TMNT movie. I wonder if they'll be showing it at Pembroke Mall not too far from my home. That's something I guess I'd have to check. I didn't know they were making a new TMNT game, but if it's anything like Prince of Persia, it should be hella good. I don't know about the Hulk movie (though the lack of action wouldn't bother me much), but I REALLY like the PS2 games.

Speaking of which, what was with the FMVs in that game? I know there was cel shading, but there was so much contrast between colours that it ended up looking much worse than the actual game.

VtD, I'm actually in North Jersey right now and so is Kurt. I think it's too soon to go see the movie on the fly but I would like to get together an east coast Hardcore Gaming 101 get together. Maybe if we all planned to have at a central location (Maryland or Virginia are pretty good choices) then we'll be able to do it. I'll talk with Kurt and maybe we can start something cool. What are your thoughts?
P.S. Sorry to the guys out of the country. Maybe if we make a thing out of this you could visit in the summer.

There's always Otakon in Baltimore, which I think is at the end of July this year.

When I first saw the TMNT trailer at I believe, a showing of FREEDOM WRITERS (which BTW, kicks copious amounts of ass), I was absolutely amped up. It looks sick from where I sit. I probably will go check it out. I loved the original TMNT cartoon growing up (I know they're different from their darker comics but so what I loved it) and I too loved the TMNT movies (the 1st two anyhow)
Never ceases to amaze me how similar our interests can seem to be at times, VtD.

Nah.... I'm the number one TMNT fan, but think they missed the mark completely with their new design. Heads are too big, bodies are too skinny, and the CGI in general doesn't look last gen. I actually liked the first season of their last cartoon the best. The first movie is what they are really all about: dark, underground, dirty and totally B class.
