I don't know about here in the U.S., but where I grew up (Argentina) getting anywhere near TMNT's end level meant exploiting the game's various glitches and tricks in order to beat it on 1 quarter (we never had too much money to spend on arcades). It was a very important part of the arcade experience. Do any of you know what I'm talking about?

Nope. I live in Canada and missed out on arcades. Shame shame shame.

Yes, stuff like the sewer bug where you if you stood just one pixel away from falling to the water, enemies were unable to hit you in any possible way.

Who else got to actually play TMNT in the arcades back in the day? Like '89/'90 when it was still burning up the arcades.

I did. Hell, there were only 3 machines I would put money into. One was the 6 player x-men that I think our local arcade actually owned, as they had it until they closed the doors. One was the original TMNT, which was replaced with Turtles in Time, and the third was whatever iteration of Street Fighter II was the most recent. 25 cents a pop, cept for Street Fighter, which was the first game I ever saw at 50 cents.

I played it back then too.
The "stand on the edge" bug was present in various stages, but the "walk on the roof" glitch was probably the hardest to pull off. You had to scroll the screen up while jumping at the same time, doing it just right resulted in the turtles walking above the stage (the highway one).
Konami's X-Men also had various glitches you could exploit to keep enemies at bay.

Back in the day, it'd be TMNT (and subsequently Turtles in Time), Captain America & The Avengers, and X-Men that got my quarters

Alright! Should be completed now. Added stuff on the GBA game, expanded the TMNT IV section, and put up MP3s. Hmm, you forgot to mention that in Turtles in Time as well that points differ depending on how you killed a guy. The slams differed from the throws, and they both differed from regular kills. I forgot the exact quantities though. I had to check up on this - this is only in the SNES version. The arcade version gives you a single point regardless. Anyway, it seems like the multi-slam was added into the SNES game (and carried into Hyperstone Heist.) In the arcade version, it seems like you can only slam them once.

No Ninja Turdle? Can I at least post the .mp3 here in the forum? Don't even know what that is, but sure. EDIT: OH, that Best Fwends CD. It's not related enough to include with the actual MP3 set, but if you want to post a link, I'm down with it.

The first page has a duplicate pic of the turtles and Splinter looking at Shedder on the TV and Page 2 still has a link to another Page 2 that does not exist.

Nice article. I guess it's legit it to exclude the old B&W GB titles, but dang, TMNT2 GB was one of the most graphically (and acoustically) excellent titles ever released on the platform, says I.
Also, wasn't there a DOS port of Manhattan Project? I'm pretty sure it's on Underdogs. I never did get around to taking a look at it - it might just be similar in style to the first TMNT NES game.
By the way, TMNT GBA is seven stages, not six.
And now, the grammar niggles.
all based based around

Gracias.
Anyway, the DOS game is actually a completely different game - the subtitle is "Manhattan Missions" IIRC. There was a thread a few months ago somewhere where someone posted a Youtube link. Didn't seem all that impressive, but I haven't played it myself.
