Yes, particularly the delightfully smooth animation. Hooray for rotoscoping!

Anyone remember Realm? It was a Titus game released in the end of the SNES era. Not excactly a brilliant game but sports some very nice 2d graphics.

Pilot Wings, Super Mario Kart, and F-Zero. Mode-7 is awesome.
EDIT:
Recca also has some of the best 8-bit sprite art ever.

Megaman 3 looks awesome. There's a huge amount of details and shit going on. The background animations and scenery were often a feast for the eyes.
Also plugging Worms 2, for having awesomely smooth animation and charming amounts of idle sprites.

Pilot Wings, Super Mario Kart, and F-Zero. Mode-7 is awesome. Hmmm... that reminds me: Yoshi's Island. Yes, I know a lot of people hate that game... but ya' gotta admit, it was really, really nice-LOOKING, if not also lots of fun to play. And it was the first game I know of that used mode 7 for something other than polygon 3D. -Tom

I don't, but I know a lot of people who do. They think it's not Mario enough, and say that baby Mario's crying is annoying.
I think it's pretty awesome, myself, and don't mind the crying at all. (:

EVERYBODY was bitching about Yoshi's Island when it was first released. It took a few years before the game became so highly regarded.

Man. Yoshi's Island is one of my all-time favourite games... I can't even imagine someone hating it. Though Baby Mario is annoying, yes.

Yeah but the fact Super Mario World only has about 5 pieces of music is also really annoying too but no one cared about that

EVERYBODY was bitching about Yoshi's Island when it was first released. It took a few years before the game became so highly regarded. I was one of those people, and I still am. Its a good platformer I guess, but there is far better out there to play. I will even go as far to state that DKC is a better game than Yoshi's Island. If anything, the music was good, but everything else was just boring. I wanted a Super Mario World 2 kind of game, not some fucking dinosaur adventure, with pink pastel colours, and childish xylophone sounds.

I liked the colors and music. (: And I liked the gameplay, too! It was totally unique, and really fun. I actually found DKC kind of boring by comparison, honestly... DKC didn't have nearly as much variety to the gameplay, nor was there as much variety to the level designs.
Bear in mind I enjoyed both games... but when asked which I liked better, Yoshi's Island is the clear winner for me.
