Okay. So I stopped following what was up with the game for a while. Now I find out they signed MASTODON and TERRORIZER for the game and they are even doing a metal tour to promote the game.
Somehow the art direction and all that stuff I was really bothered about started making sense. This game is going to be fucking crazy. With all that metal and all that killing, it sure is starting to remind me of Brutal Legend a bit.

This game was one of the few games on the HD platforms that interested me, but... if that last part of the trailer was an indication of the music in Splatterhouse, then I might skip it. This music bores me to death, I need a good tune to beat people up. It's what makes a good beat'em up.

Namco's really promoting the new game as a gory horror and heavy metal extremefest, I guess you could say, so if metal in general turns you off, this definitely won't be a game you'll want. Although you could certainly play it with the mute button on. Dunno if that would help.

Or you could try custom tracks. I always have various Capcom and Mahvel Baybee related tunes playing while I MvC2.

The soundtrack for the first Splatterhouse is so memorable and creepy. Too bad they are going with metal this time around, totally kills the mood.

Dire is right about the whole metal extremefest thing. The old Splatterhouse games were a tribute to the horror movies of that time, so you can say the new one will be a tribute to the ones you see today.
The whole thing feels very tongue-in-cheek and ridiculously hardcore on purpose, so my interest in the game is coming back.

As for the music, I think it fits the new look, and the fact that they have some bands with "street cred" (hell, good bands) doing the music hopefully will bring in some of their fans and introduce them to the series. All I ask is that they keep Biggy's theme the same . After reading the PSM article and seeing the trailer, I was wondering this: is the "junk monster" going to have a certain eyeball painting in it? Another thing I'm looking forward to seeing is if they're still going with the "Rick can be dismembered" deal; none of the post-Bottlerocket photos seem to show that.

So...who's developing it now, anyway?

This is what I mean. You'd think the original tunes would fit the new game? Man I dunno. I watched that trailer and it was like watching the trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween or something. One of those times where you realize things have passed you by. I'd love to hear some creepy fast paced music in this game (or even some remixes), metal just completely kills any horror mood. The original Splatterhouse games were over the top and stuff, but they are still a little creepy, and the soundtrack is a big part of that. I guess I am not the target audience anyway. It seems like the game is more in line with Splatterhouse 3, which is my least favorite in the series.

Well, if that orchestrated bit in the trailer is any indication (along with some of the new monster designs) I'm guessing a nice chunk of the game will have some sort of creepiness going into it.

Hopefully, but I couldn't help but feel the opera music was meant as a joke somehow...

I think it was definitely meant as a joke. It's supposed to be like in those movies where you have some bloodbath gunfight in slow motion set to opera music because lol irony.
